Somewhat off topic: Today I was listening to the radio and they were interviewing the director of the Las Vegas Bowl who was talking about the swag that the participating teams would get. I guess that the players will be able to pick the design that they want on a pair of shoes that they will receive. The bowl director was pretty fired up and said that he had interviewed two coaches at a conference and both thought that "shoe idea" would go over well. The two coaches: Shane Beamer and PJ Fleck. Fleck seems to be pretty stylish. Go Gophers!
Not showing as much ankle as in past seasons...

To clarify the post you replied to. The Gopher allotment is in the 300 level, that is the club level. They have a weird numbering system. The upper bowl is 500 level. 300 and 200 appear to be the same level, 300 is club seats.

Per the app, this gives you access to the 'climate controlled lounge'

Everyone needs to do what is best for them but i always try and order from the U. Whatever little bit I can do to rid the notion that Minnesota doesn't travel well. We also did club seats for the Pinstripe Bowl and being able to warm up for a bit was absolutely money.

We have a group of 11 although mostly VT fans. My brother allowed his kids to go there and they are bringing their families. I did buy the tickets through the U so at least those VT fans count as Gopher fans.

After ruling if out on Monday, I have talked myself in to going to the game.

The flights into Charlotte are OK at $400, but if you fly into Atlanta and drive 3.5 hours it is way better. I found a 100 dollar flight and and am driving 250 miles from ATL to Charlotte.

With the weather being in question back in Minneapolis, I'll enjoy the car trip from ATL to CTL.
Car rental rates are also very good. If not done yet I advise going with Avis or Hertz. A little higher but usually not backed up at the counter. Beware though I experienced in May arriving at 11:30 PM at ATL and the entire rental fleet for everyone was rented. Zero cars. I lucked out and got a giant GMC truck at 1:30 AM but the lesson is to not arrive that late if you need a car. See you there.

I agree. I went with Dollar Car Rental once at CLT and had a bad experience. I guess I should have looked at their reviews before I did that.1733952543060.png

Maybe a better question- which downtown Charlotte bar is holding the unofficial gopher fan pregame for those of us taking a pass on the official AD party?

Not going. Travel budget got extended during the season.

Tailgate tickets went on sale and got two. So easy and fun to socialize with the fans with food, drinks and Goldy! Tailgate is right next to the stadium!

You can do Alamo and just check in online and never wait in line. Through Costco is usually cheaper too.

$135/person….🤔 Should I or shouldn’t I?

I'd like to think there is an option out there close enough to the stadium where I'll feed and drink my not-heavy drinkers where we'll have seats and ample TVs to watch the 4pm bowl game for less than 135 bucks. Don't get me wrong, would love the hype of the cheer squad and band and all of that, but I think any bar in town will have plenty of gopher and VT fans so will be fun anyway. Someone sell me on this. I'm open to anything.

To frame it another way, if food and drinks were paid for a la carte, what would I pay for this tailgate then?

Our parking lot opens at 4:30 for us so that does align with the UMSports party. At least for the Outback Bowl, we hit a Publix Deli right down the street for food, and purchased some libations, and had a nice tailgate in the stadium lot easy peasy, even having some Auburn fans who parked behind us join for a few minutes of banter. Probably similar for this one. The lot looks like it holds about 75-100 vehicles so may have some other pre-game folks present too.

Looks like there's an outdoor hockey match-up the next day in Charlotte. VT against UNC at Truist Stadium. Might be fun if still in town after the Gophers win the bowl game.

Catching the Wild @ Caps the night before. Staying just north of Richmond Thursday night after the Caps/Wild game. Drive down to Charlotte on the 3rd. Might go to NASCAR museum on the 4th to celebrate the Gophers victory. Just got my tix thru the U. Usually buy on the street outside before the game but I decided to be sure and also throw a few more $ to the U.
