I have two in this class:

Jimmy Gjere - if this kid had drawn out his recruitment his offers would have piled up and his hype would be much more, so let's not lose sight that we've signed one of the best lineman in the region and one of the higer rated kids in years. I love that he grew up a Gopher fan and needed little time to accept the offer. He's athletic (heck, anyone at 6-7 that can play HS hockey can obviously move) and it's a position of great need.

Donnell Kirkwood - we need to re-establish our reputation as a RB producer and I am hopeful that this is the kid.

Go Gophers!!

Jimmy Gjere. I always like a tough hard nose offensive line to follow.

I need to start scouting for my replacement for Theret after next year. :).

Gotta with Edwards on this with Gjere coming in at a close second.

I'm intrigued with Edwards' size and raw ability on both sides of the ball. I think he can be a huge asset this year in the running game if the line can create some opportunities for him.

Isn't Edwards being recruited as a Linebacker?

I'm most excited about Devon Wright. The kid seems like he could be a workhorse for us, and he has a pretty decent offer/interest list. I also like the thought of a 6'7 (Tiree Eure) tight end in the red zone :)

A lot of schools wanted him on defense but right now he is slated to be a RB.

Other than going with the obvious, my sleepers are Tyrone Bouie and Harold Legania.

And all of our OL recruits this year and every year from here on out.

I'm on this as well. I really like the size of these kids, a lot of them are smart (Ferguson went to a really good prep school out east) and play with a mean streak. It's not flashy and most probably won't see the field for a couple years but it's how you win games in the big ten.

Specifically Jimmy is my favorite. Big and athletic as they come and grew up wanting to be a Gopher!

Can I change my answer to Calvin Phillips? Next great Gopher back?

In the short term:
Wright & Edwards: We need these guys to be the real deal right now.
Lewis & Tillman: We need depth at corner.

Long term.
Gjere: If he wouldn't have committed last May, he would have had a lot more offers. I say start him out at guard and move him outside next year.
Ferguson: The kid already looks the part. My gut tells me he will be in the rotation next fall and starting in a couple years.
Parish: It would be fun to see him succeed.

I'll 2nd this - and add one more thing. You may all think I'm crazy, but I think over the next 4 years, Gjere could end up being better than Seantrel. On top of his god-given talent, I've heard his work ethic is top notch, add to that a fantastic family, and a lot of motivation - and I think sky's the limit for Jimmy.

I hate Wisconsin and Iowa, but I respect the hell out of them because they have this formula figured out on both sides of the ball. You need your lines to be great to dominant. If you have that, you can compete for the Big Ten titles.

Kirkwood, Edwards and Wright...

Have you seen our RB depth chart?

As long as Brewster is coach, it is impossible to be excited about any of these players. It will not make any difference how talented any of these player are because we dont have a staff that can utilize the talent if it exists.

Please find the nearest pitchfork, hold it tines-up toward your head, and leap down facefirst onto it. Come back and let us know how that turns out for you.

Are we out of idiot spray? How does that thing keep coming back here?

And on an actual topical note, I'm the most excited about Gjere. I'm always looking forward to seeing how the fat kids turn out. If anyone would like, you can go ahead and make my response for next year. Just use these words: "Tom Olson" "dad and brother" and "fat kids."

I'm just a litle bit pissed at Kirkwood right now. I know I shouldn't be, but I am.

Jeff Horton.

To see if he can bring this offense to life.

I'm really hoping that the offensive linemen in this class work out. That is what would excite me the most.

+1

That's exactly what I was going to post and then saw your comment. I have a feeling like one of those 3 will make the biggest immediate impact next year. That trio is what excites me the most about the class. The lack of depth and versitality at RB without these 3 players was quite troubling.

It's hard for me to get excited about an O-lineman (if it's not an elite, once in a generation player like Henderson). It's the biggest crapshoot in recruiting (and that's saying something). They almost always redshirt and it's really difficult to get a feel on how they'll respond to putting on an extra 30 lbs or how someone responds to being asked to lose some lbs (Ragoo). It's the one position where I feel like a 2 star recruit is almost as likely to perform well on the field compared to a 4 star player. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to have Gjere on board for many reasons but the nature of the position just prevents me from saying I'm most excited about him.
