why doesn't Betts get some time even in bad losses? if he's not good enough to play when you're getting blown out let him portal. at least give him a fair shot, maybe something will click.
Betts redshirted, for all practical purposes he is a 2023 recruit. Can't play even 1 minute or lose the redshirt.

As I understand it, the "Henley will leave" steam is allegedly due to the AAU coach. Henley and Evans played for the same AAU program. Their AAU coach is "suspected" of being one of the people who was "encouraging" Evans to drop MN and seek greener pastures ($$$) somewhere else.

Ryan James in a podcast said that the AAU coach was also complaining that Henley should be getting more playing time at MN. So, that is apparently the rationale for thinking that Henley could leave.
He was accussed a long time ago of orchestrating a scholarship for package deal that caused a decommit at San Diego State and commut to Kansas, 15 years ago. I think it got a 4 star, if the Kansas gave his “Helpers(maybe GF)” a scholly.

You must not have been a fan during either the Ahanmisi era or the Kevin Payton era.

Also worth noting that we were so light at point during Coffey's final year (2018?) that he was forced to play out of position at PG.

He's redshirting.

It’s what he was intended to be anyways. He didn’t reclassify to play, he knew he was redshirting.

My favorite gopher offense is as with Coffey as a PG. He moved the ball well and the pace was higher. I found it to be fun.

He’s really only senior in high school age wise, why the Hell would we want him to enter the portal. He was ranked 83rd in his class, maybe we should give him a chance before cutting him loose.

I chose TT, Cooper and Henley.

Battle would just go play pro, but could since I hear he’s graduated.

I think Garcia would have to sit, so no.

Fox suddenly has a spot again spelling Payne.

I don’t think any of the Minnesotan freshmen go after getting 10-20 min per game.

Ihnen probably stays.

Henley could be the one who talked Evans out and will follow.

Cooper may want to go down to easier competition. Or if he has to sit, he may stay.

TT can’t get time during the worst season in Gopher history. He needs lower competition.

Battle will go pro?? By pro do you mean Europe? He's not NBA material.

Starting lineup of Carr, Dupree, Coffey, Murphy, and Oturu, with Gabe K the first off the bench would have been really interesting.
I think that team worked because Carr wasn’t there. They moved the ball better than any Pitino team I watched. Carr would’ve just made them be worse at defense and have a ball dominant guard which would’ve hurt production of others. I wish Pitino would’ve learned with that group that ball movement and defense were the way

I don't remember it that way at all. Coffey left a lot to be desired as a PG. I remember thinking many times during that season, if we only had a PG...

That's how I remember it too. Coffey was good at almost everything, but he wasn't a true point guard. He was great at creating offense on the fly....but he wasn't exactly great at distributing the ball. Carr more than doubled Coffey's APG in 2019. Would have been absolutely huge to have him running point with Coffey at the 2 or 3.

I remember enjoying the offense more, but sad we didn’t have an Al Nolan type and letting Coffey take McBrayers spot

I had read somewhere that Richard Coffey had really pushed for having Amir play point.

Fwiw, Battle, Samuels, and Cooper are apart of senior night honors. All are graduating this semester.
It would seem as of now, neither have decided to come back next season.

Looks like our 'core' returning next season will be Garcia, Payne, Carrington, and JoJ. Yikes.

I just caught a whiff of change in the air

Wahl went through senior night at Wisconsin, it doesn't mean he won't be back but the door is a little bit more open. I doubt Cooper comes back.

I know sometimes guys will come back even after walking, but I can't imagine it's too often.

Cooper has been average, but would definitely like to have him back.

Battle...I'm OK with leaving as I think it will help be more of a team offense. Still would prefer he came back though.

More bodies to fill from the portal, and we know how that went last year.

Also Ihnen, Fox and Betts. Many D1 teams will only have 7 returning next fall. But, I bet we have a few more. 1, 2 or all three of Henley, Battle and Cooper will return (my guess).

Ihnen wasn't a good player pre 2 knee surgeries. Fox has only played at a much lower level, and that was before 2 knee surgeries. I expect very little from either one of them going forward. Betts is very raw.

Now that Battle and Cooper are participating in SR night, neither are likely to come back. It's not like they are fringe NBA prospects, and I don't think they would be participating tonight if they were coming back.

With Evans decommitment, I'll be surprised if Henley is back. He's the most likely of the 3 to return though.

Well given how badly you want Johnson gone this should have you thrilled because the more the team struggles next year the more likely you finally get your wish of him being fired.

Yes, it's been mentioned multiple times in this thread, he's red shirting. Which has been the plan all along. Age wise, he's a high school senior.
