Where will Minnesota finish in the final rankings?

10, and we're ranked that high in the pre-season as well.

I say we end at #12-14. Begin next year at #20 if AWJ stays, #25 if he goes.

In the final rankings we should jump Memphis, Michigan, Auburn and Utah to get to 14. Should we be ranked ahead of Penn State since we both finished with the same record? What if Oregon beats Wisconsin, do we get ahead of Wisconsin since they would have 4 losses even though they beat us pretty bad? 13 is probably the highest we could hope for.
The Gophers will not have to move from 18th - that was the Playoff ranking. Weren't they #16 in the AP & Coaches, so if they jump 4, they could be 12th. The final polls are those of the coaches and AP writers.

Considering the Gophs were #16 in the AP and Coaches polls, the worst case is #13 with moves ahead of Memphis, Auburn and Utah. A dominant win (by boxscore) over a very good and respected SEC team might pop them ahead of Penn State, Notre Dame and/or Wisconsin, Baylor if they lose. So #9 best case scenario. I'm guessing #11-#12.

It would be cool if they could make it to #10 (AP Rankings) which they haven't done since 1962. They probably would have to jump 6 of these 9 teams: Penn St., Notre Dame, Baylor, Auburn, Oregon, Memphis, Wisconsin, Utah, Georgia.

12-15. I'd say 13, but I don't have a vote....

They deserve to be top ten. But I doubt it will happen.

Currently moved up from #18 to #16 in the AP Poll.

The way I read the OP, it seems you're referencing the CFP poll. The final CFP poll each season is the one released before the bowl games. In the AP and coaches polls, which both release a final post-bowl edition, we are currently 16th. We deserve to be in the top 10, but we routinely get screwed by the pollsters, so I predict a final rating of 12th.

When’s the last time the Gophers finished in the top 15 in the AP poll? They finished 18th in 1999.

What I think the final rankings should be.

1) LSU
2) Clemson
3) Ohio State
4) Georgia 11-2
Quality wins (all marquee wins) Notre Dame, Florida, Auburn.
Quality losses: LSU
Ugly loss: South Carolina *I normally penalize a team for a horrible loss but in this case the three marquee wins more than make up for it.*

5) Florida 11-2
Quality wins: Auburn, Tennessee
Quality losses: LSU and Georgia
Ugly losses: None
6) Minnesota 11-2
Quality wins: Penn State, Auburn
Quality losses: Iowa, Wisconsin.
Quality losses: None
Comment: Minnesota won the head to head with #7
7) Penn State 11-2
Quality wins: Iowa, Michigan
Quality losses: Minnesota, Ohio State
Ugly losses: None
8) Alabama 11-2
Quality wins: Tennessee, Michigan
Quality losses: LSU, Auburn
Ugly losses: None
Comment: Minnesota had one common opponent with Alabama; Auburn
9) Notre Dame 11-2
Quality wins: Louisville, Virginia Tech.
Quality losses: Georgia, Michigan
Ugly losses : None
10) Oregon 11-2
Quality wins: Utah,USC, Wisconsin
Quality losses: Auburn
Ugly losses: Arizona State
Comment: Common opponent with Minnesota; Auburn
11) Oklahoma 12-2
Quality wins Baylor (2), Iowa State
Quality losses: LSU
Ugly losses: Kansas State
Comment: Played in the weakest power 5 conference
12) Utah 11-3
Quality wins: Washington, California
Quality losses: USC, Oregon, Texs
Ugly losses: None
13) Baylor 11-3
Quality wins: Iowa State, Oklahoma State
Quality losses Georgia Oklahoma (2)
Ugly losses none.
Comments: Played in the weakest power 5 conference. (May have to flip them with OK if they
come back against Georgia)
14) Auburn: 10-4
Quality wins: Oregon, Alabama
Quality losses: Florida, LSU, Georgia, Minnesota.
Ugly losses: None
15) Wisconsin 10-4
Quality wins Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa

17) Michigan 9-4

Quality losses: Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama
Ugly losses: None

That's as far as will go as it covers the big ten teams

I think we'll be #10 in the coaches and AP poll.

We will pass 6 out of these 7 teams.

Memphis, PSU, Auburn, Utah, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Baylor.

12 to 14. Should be 12 or 13 but you never know with the CFP voters. The tough part is Minnesota will still be lacking some respect because of it's past history. There is a bias there even if it's an unconscious one.

#11 in the AP poll is the safe call.

Key question is, how many (if any) of Wisconsin (4 losses), Baylor, Penn State, and perhaps even Notre Dame do they move past?

The Gophs should jump Baylor (no ranked wins - how the hell are they 7/8?) and Notre Dame (best win Navy) but name recognition and poll positioning going into the week might come into play. MN, PSU, UW probably end bunched together.
