The fact that Indiana just went undefeated and won a National Title is the poster child for just how insane and upside down college athletics is right now.Now that Indiana has done the impossible, how long do we have to wait before they turn from the little engine that could to an example of everything that is wrong with college football?![]()
Plenty not to like about college football now but at least for now it seems to have brought a little more parity. A championship caliber team can certainly be "bought". But big picture is that it probably puts us at least in a better position nationally due to being in the B1G conference. So far I'm more in the jealous of Indiana camp than I am hate. But give it time, it may change. Now that Indiana has done the impossible, how long do we have to wait before they turn from the little engine that could to an example of everything that is wrong with college football?![]()
Several reasons it can't happen here. One of the pregame shows had the IU president on. She made a commitment 7yrs ago to making IU football relevant. They created a plan and stuck to it. No chance in hell we ever get a president at UMN with that level of commitment to sports.I think you're confusing "hate" with "envy."
There's nothing to hate.
There's zero reason Minnesota can't achieve similarly.
Yep, my hatred is out of pure envy. The dude is a winner.“I win, google me.”
You drop that 2 years ago at your intro press conference and then win a Natty. Hide your women. Cant hate him. Guys a legend.
This is the correct answer.I was rooting for them last night. Today, they're the devil.
I highly doubt that. Not in this 18 team format. He wouldn’t be able to recruit on a high enough level at Indiana without NIL and transfers. He would maybe get them consistently middle of the pack at best in my opinion.Idk, did NIL help? For sure, Cignetti was able to get a roster of his guys in no time flat because of it. At the same time, it's not like they are stacked with 4-5 star talent, a lot of it is also a solid coaching staff and I don't think I can hate them for taking a chance on the right guy. I think Cignetti would've at least had them competing for Big Ten championships after a couple of years if he had coached prior to NIL. Would they have gone all the way? Who knows.
I'll start disliking them if A) it ever comes out that they cheated in some way like the sign stealing scandal Michigan committed or B) the fan base starts getting too arrogant and forgets how easy it would be for them to fall back to the bottom of the pack.
