What's the appropriate time to wait before hating Indiana?

Now that Indiana has done the impossible, how long do we have to wait before they turn from the little engine that could to an example of everything that is wrong with college football? ;)

The fact that Indiana just went undefeated and won a National Title is the poster child for just how insane and upside down college athletics is right now.

Shows what can happen if you can find the right coach who clearly has a really good eye for talent, give them the resources ($$$) they need to go get that talent, and have everything break right in terms of some last second heroics and good luck on the injury front.

The problem is that everyone is going to try and duplicate that blueprint and it is going to be much easier said then done. Coaches are already given a crazy short leash these days and it probably just got even shorter after this.

I was somewhat indifferent to Indiana FB. I viewed schools like Indiana as a good reason for expansion - add the top PAC teams and play the Indians less. But I love the story here and while we can all bitch and moan about the portal and NIL and all that's wrong with CFB, and I agree there are plenty of problems with those issues, the fact remains that without the portal and without NIL, this game would have been Alabama vs Georgia for the umpteenth straight time. Love it. Good for IU. I'll keep rooting for them

Plenty not to like about college football now but at least for now it seems to have brought a little more parity. A championship caliber team can certainly be "bought". But big picture is that it probably puts us at least in a better position nationally due to being in the B1G conference. So far I'm more in the jealous of Indiana camp than I am hate. But give it time, it may change.

I already hate them. I found myself disappointed that Oregon got its ass kicked. I hate Miami even more so there's that.

Started hating them last year.

Absence fan base for 50 years and they immediately became the most annoying fan base in the country.

I am torn. I hate what college football has become. Now when they talk about players they're talking about their previous college more often than their home town. I don't want the winner each year to be the teams that had the most success raiding other teams.

On the other hand this particular team is hard not to like. Their QB is deadly and clutch, yet seems like a genuinely great guy. They don't make mistakes, they play with fundemantals, they prioritze the run and play physical, but they're not afraid to be aggressive at the right times, all the stuff you wish your team did.

I’m merely in jealous mode. After 50+ years of being a Minnesota sports fan, I’m starting to believe championships are more myth than reality...and I genuinely wonder if we’ll ever experience a title in anything again. Just imagine how bleak it would feel if we didn’t have the ’87 and ’91 Twins to cling to.
I don’t actually hate the Indiana team. Their fans, though, might get there. There’s nothing quite like a fan base that’s been completely nonexistent for years, only to suddenly reappear once the team gets hot...fully decked out in gear and bragging about how they’ve always been there. We'll see...

I think you're confusing "hate" with "envy."
There's nothing to hate.
There's zero reason Minnesota can't achieve similarly.

I’ll never hate on them. I have Hoosier family, and have only had kind interactions with their fanbase. I’m happy for them and what they have done this year.

Several reasons it can't happen here. One of the pregame shows had the IU president on. She made a commitment 7yrs ago to making IU football relevant. They created a plan and stuck to it. No chance in hell we ever get a president at UMN with that level of commitment to sports.

“I win, google me.”

You drop that 2 years ago at your intro press conference and then win a Natty. Hide your women. Cant hate him. Guys a legend.
Yep, my hatred is out of pure envy. The dude is a winner.

Can the Steelers hire him? Please.
