What's happening in WI QB room?

Unless there is a terrible disaster with the QBs the Gophers are developing in-house, the Gophers are in a good place. Athan and Knuth both have a lot of upsides.

They missed out on Max Duggan. He would have been great in a Gopher's uniform.

It's a high-risk/high-reward gambit.

I’ve watched enough smu games to feel comfortable with my call where a Twitter video of him breaking one run against navy doesn’t change the watching him try scramble for first downs numerous times and not have the legs to get there:

Random 100m stats from some random year at a different weight, body type and unpadded, ditto

That said, he’s an upgrade at starter for next year, but I don’t think he’s going to take them over the top based in his skill set alone

He literally had one of the 5 fastest runs in all of college football in week six. He can almost run 21mph in full pads. The fastest Usain Bolt ever ran in any track meet is 27.5 mph.

ah yes. everyone lines up and runs in a straight line for 20 yards. that's how football works. As I've said, I've watched him play enough times to have my opinion. You can have yours based on a twitter highlight using estimated flying speed by using the gameclock vs the yard hashmarks. That's fine.

Some see the WI QB room half full and some see it half empty depending on your hopes and prejudices.

Hi Freddy! How’s yer hockey team? Would you like me to tell you how much Granato is disliked in the 608?

It's not really an opinion, he's fast.

Chase Wolfe is a grinder. One of those Cincinnati 3 stars that Fickle seems to find and like. Chase competed with and replaced Sean Clifford at the same high school. My nephew played with him and said he was a winner even though he didn’t have the measureables of Clifford. Wisconsin should be better in 23.

Chase Wolf is leaving WI. It didn't make sense at the time when he announced previously he was returning, as the QB room was overcrowded, but he was promised he would get to compete for the starting job. Then in mid-January, he was told that starting job was promised to the SMU transfer Mordecai.

I could easily judge WI and Fickell as being shady here, but I am biased against the Badgers and don't know all the facts. We shall see how it pans out for their program.

I mean.....regardless of what the coaches might tell you, if you are on the roster and they bring in 3 transfers at your position there is a pretty good chance that you are not going to be in the real mix for playing time.

Or if you are playing and you did not turn into Steve Montana overnight … it’s likely that the coaches are not happy about it and they will do it all over again next year.

Positions with multiple starting spots is one thing with depth and such, but 3 guys move in for one spot…. you know you aren’t likely the guy.

It is impossible to predict the future but given the changes in coaching staffs and the addition of quality players via recruiting at NE and WI, it would be safe to say that beating either next year will not be as easy as it was the past season.

It would be almost impossible for Nebraska to be worse, but I could see Wisco having a same or worse record.

How is that safe to say at this point? First off, I don’t see how it’s safe to say Nebraska and especially Wisconsin are instantly better next year due to coaching staff changes. I also don’t see the can’t miss transfers that insure they’ll be better. Secondly I think it’s pretty safe to think the Gopher defense will show a slight drop off at worst. Also safe to think the pass game takes strides with a more seasoned qb and three proven wrs that were not available vs NE or Wisconsin.

Remember the grass is always greener.

That...and Plato is a Badger fan.....West is always tough to predict but next year will be especially tough with all the new coaches and personnel changes across the division.

They’re all wearing each other’s lip gloss and changing their names to becky!!!

Keep in mind Fickell is the only person in the last 30 years to coach Ohio State to a losing record.
And win with Brian what's his faces recruits.

I wouldn't go that far. Brian Kelly was at Notre Dame in 2010, so I don't think that Cincy playoff team from 2 season's ago had any of his players on it.

Was going to call you a liar but checked it out and went 6-7 with a win against Wisconsin’s most talented team ever. Take away that year and first year at Cincinnati and record is really impressive but the B1G is going to be a slugfest.
