8-5
Win over Badgers
Win at UCLA
Finally beat Bielema
6th straight bowl win

Lost to Iowa again
Disappointing loses to UNC and Rutgers

C+

I think they showed they're a solid Big Ten team. But they should not have lost to NC & Rutgers. Should have won vs Michigan. Had Penn St. on the ropes.

Really feels like this team should have been more like 10-2 maybe 9-3 in the regular season. Then they would have probably made the playoffs if they pulled off the Penn St win.

But a lot of "shoulda coulda" this year. If it was 8-5 and they beat everyone they should have I would give them a better grade than that. If you're just out gunned talent wise I can understand that but they seemed to have enough NFL talent on this team to win more than 8.

I voted B, but would give a B- if I could. The program is in good hands with Fleck no doubt but its time for another breakthrough season. We had chances this year but couldn't convert and let the PSU slip away and Iowa is a constant thorn in our side.

Love Fleck, he's the best fit for our program, time to take the next step.

Feels like a pretty solid B to me. Finished above .500 in conference, beat Wisconsin, made it to and won a bowl game.....

Definite room for improvement and the team left some meat on the bone........frustrating that they didn't quite seem to get to the level they looked capable of getting to but tough to be overly disappointed in an 8-5 season as well.

B-
Won the Axe, took down USC for the first time in decades, won a bowl game and defeated a Bielema-led Illinois team that will likely finish in the top 25. Some frustrating losses to North Carolina, Penn State and Rutgers held the score back, but an 8 win season with that schedule is still respectable

Some of y'all not recognizing the fact that this team was expected to win 4 or 5 games this year with their reasonably difficult schedule. They easily could have finished 9-4 or 10-3 with a few breaks here and there, but they are what their record says and that is an above average B1G team with a solid foundation. I gave them a B, but it would definitely be B+

I would say B to B-. As usual, some missed opportunities but 8 wins is still solid. There isn't a game I didn't feel like they couldn't win. Even against Penn St (who's in the semifinals for the National Championship by the way), I never felt like we didn't belong.

Fleck has the program in a solid place. He's done a nice job in the portal, not just getting guys but preventing high impact players from transferring for the most part. I feel like the program's ceiling under Fleck is consistent 8-9 wins with an occasional bigger year with even a possible playoff appearance.

C+ or B- for me.

Good middle of the season and good final couple of games.

The UNC and Rutgers losses are holding it back.

Seems every year for the last few there is a game or two that really is a head scratcher…beginning with Bowling Green in 2021.

I like PJ and am glad he is our coach and he’s definitely raised the bar here.

Teetering between B and B-. More good than bad. I thought they'd go 5-7, but wasn't expecting much out of Brosmer and thought little of the Hetherman hire. Very pleased with a more aggressive defensive strategy and a more innovative offense. If they get good QB play next year, and they hit on their portal adds, the opportunity for a real nice season is on the table.

I am also a B- (if + & - were options).

In order for this program to "move to the next level" - which was the stated goal when Fleck was hired - they cannot lose games like North Carolina and Rutgers. win those two games, and we're talking about a 9-3 regular season and 10-3 overall record.

for all the good things that have happened under Fleck, the Gophers still manage to lose at least one game every season that they should not or cannot afford to lose.

that is the difference between a program like MN and the big boys at the top of the conference.

FWIW - there were 10 teams with 3 losses in the final AP top 25.

Their “reasonably difficult schedule “ was actually a pretty easy schedule with unc being bad and only drawing 1 of the best 3 teams. Michigan was very poor and beatable by their standards, same for usc. The win over the Illini is nice, but the other wins over teams with winning records are Rhode Island and USC (7-6). 8/18 in the B10 about the definition of average. Hopefully the year serves as a launching pad for next year

If we would have played to those 4 or 5 win expectations, it would have been a pretty awful year (the fact that prognosticators expected us to be bad doesnt mean it is less bad if we are as bad as they expect). Also, the schedule is a lot less daunting if you look at postseason rankings than it did based on preseason ones.

8 or 9 wins has become the standard, we have been in that zone a lot dating back to 2014. I felt like this was a solid B (beating Wisconsin does a lot for me). Agree with those who say the missed opportunities make it frustrating. Don't know if I'd call it a B-, but definitely closer to C than to A.

I gave them a B. Credit to PJ that our 8-5 season is considered a "bad year" - the North Carolina and Rutgers losses hurt. In hindsight the win over USC wasn't as impressive as it seemed at the time and we probably should have beaten Michigan.

The more I watch PJ he is really two coaches rolled into one. If he trusts his QB the playbook is much more open and our entire offense is smooth, aggressive, and effective. If he doesn't trust the QB he coils into a ball and hands the ball off and plays ultra conservative - i.e. North Carolina.

Went with a B. Some frustrating losses to UNC and Rutgers, but also some nice wins against USC, UCLA, Wisconsin and Illinois. Illinois would have had a legit playoff argument if they had beaten us and beating UCLA and Wisconsin kept them out of bowl eligibility. I am also convinced Nebraska made a bowl because they didn't have to play us this year. I also didn't realize we were Rhode Island only regular season loss, glad to see they had a good season in the FCS. I know we lose a lot and yet it still feels like we return a lot as well. I think like Cody L in 2022, I think Maverick is ready to take the next step at linebacker. Zaquan Bryant looks like he's going to be a dude at CB for the next three years, JLL, Eastern and Anthony Smith should lead the dline. Should be in good hands if we hit on QB next year. That seems to be the key in this league.

Gave a B. Brosmer showed the value in having consistent QB play. Not spectacular, but steady and that's been missing a bit. Lots of close games. Won a couple they could have lost and lost a couple they could have won. Lots of wouldas and couldas. I was expecting a bit more out of the O-line. Defense under Hetherman was very good. Looks to be more aggressive than Rossi (and Rossi was a pretty good DC) and hopefully he'll have the players to continue pressing the opposing offense. Having a "forward" defense is the only thing I miss about Kill/Claeys and it's nice to see that returning.

I think the offseason work that occurred before the bowl game was played is worthy of a half grade increase. The portal and NIL have gone from boogeymen that some thought threatened the program to a probable strength. There will be departures in the spring, but I'm less concerned than ever about who that will be and how the team will cope.

This....I predicted 4 wins and the way things started out...

I think preseason most would’ve taken 6-7 wins, so I give 8 wins a B. One more win and it’d be an A for me. Unfortunate to lose to UNC and Rutgers, but let’s not act like those losses were anything like the Bowling Green loss. While not great, those two teams have some talent and were bowl teams, we weren’t huge favorites in either game.

Huge unknown with the new QB coming in. Brosmer was much better than Kaliakmanis. Real fun to watch them open up the offensive this yr. Sold B

If we knew Broamer was going to perform as well as he did, I don’t think anybody would’ve thought six or seven wins would’ve been good.

I give PJ an A. And I will tell you why.

1. He loosened the offensive reins and opened up the playbook!
2. He hit a home run with his DC hire.
3. He did very well in the portal.

These are moves which will help us going forward. He gets what he needs out of the portal and has a staff kids want to play for.

The biggest thing to do going forward is to keep the staff together and pay them accordingly.

Except whoever coaches Special Teams, that is a big area for improvement.
