What are the bars planning?

Also just to correct some of the previous stuff.. Stub and Herbs is just 21+.

They are also having Surly be the official beer of their beer garden.

On another note, I hope the City Council will consider a proposed ordinance change that will allow places within a certain distance from the stadium (like Stub's and Sally's) to have outdoor temporary expansions for all home games. Right now, the city limits these outdoor expansions to 4 times per year. Sally's usually has a tent set up for Spring Jam, which would only leave them with 3 more outdoor expansion dates this year. I think not allowing the additional expansions would be a huge disservice to the fans. The proposed ordinance would allow for temporary outdoor expansion on TCF Bank Stadium event days.

Just put the emails on here, and we can all get writing. I'll post it on the other board, along with the rest of this post.

I'm one of the owners of Campus Pizza. As many of you know, we moved across the street in January and are now located in a much larger space in Stadium Village Mall. We built a bar in the new place and now have a Full Liquor License, making us the closest Restaurant and Bar to TCF Bank Stadium. Here are some of the highlights regarding what we plan to do on Game Days:

-Temporary Expansion into the Stadium Village Mall common area to accommodate dozens of additional diners and drinkers. (Standing room and seating room)
-We'll open 8 am on days when kick-off is set for 11 am. We're even developing a breakfast pizza for those days.
-In addition to the bar, we'll have a couple of beer tubs running up around the joint.
-It probably won't be done this season, but we also plan to build a patio on the West side of the building in the alleyway between the buildings. We hope to have that up and running in time for the 2010 season.

I love Campus Pizza. I will have to stop in for a 11am game and try the breakfast pizza for sure.

I know at this point the owners of Stub's and Sally's are working on it but I haven't seen the draft ordinance come down the pipe yet. After it shows up is when I think the email campaign would be most effective. I keep you posted.

cphockeyman, question for you.

Does Campus Pizza have any plans for catering / delivering to the potential tailgating crowd? With the required 24 notice would your business be able to to deliver 10 pizzas to a group of tailgaters in nearby parking lots?

Thanks for the heads up cphockeyman. It sounds like you are going to have a heck of a good time going on at your place! Can't wait to stop by on game days.

Big Ten

Big Ten is planning on a few of things: They will serve breakfast on football Saturdays. Additional patio seating behind the Big Ten and they will be doing a beer garden in a parking lot closer to the stadium (I think it will be in a lot adjacent to the Harvard Market - but I'm not 100% sure if that's the lot for the beer garden.)

Beer gardens are good but

will those establishments erecting said tent (the 15 year old in me is giggling as I type that) also make the effort to provide televisions tuned into the days college football action or have College Gameday on pregame?

did someone say erecting tents??

Can I request a breakfast pizza that has smoked kilebasa sausage on it with yellow onions, green peppers, and mozerella cheese.
Gives you the savory and sweet taste. Something else that might be doable is a biscuits and gravy type breakfast pizza.
The only thing you have to do to the pizza crust to give the biscuit flavor is add a little butter milk and baking powder to the regular
crust recipe. The rest is easy just pile pork sausage gravy on top and some black pepper. Works on pizza crust if you change the flavor by adding the butter milk. This post is for CPHockeyguy. Campus Pizza after we make the jaunt over from St. Paul sounds good to me.

It's packed down there during a Gopher hockey game. I can't imagine how hard it will be to get into Sally's for a football game. You'll need to camp outside of Sally's the night before the game:cool:

only 4 permits????

You can bet your ass the Twins and vikings would never have the road blocks we have. When the qweens rent our crib in the future, their rules will be different. MNPLS will give the bars 10 permits plus playoffs on Sundays! Can any reasonable person object to granting permits for all Gopher game days?

Breakfast pizza sounds great! I was afraid we'd all be cramming into Al's in Dinkeytown. Looks like we'll have some more options.

CLOWNS

I am hearing that the U is going to extend their unfriendly approach to fun all over Dinky Town, etc... Quite simply, Bruininks has decided that he wants the atmosphere of an Ivy League school in the Big Ten. The quest for $$ for his making the U a top 3 research university in the country is beginning to alienate the athletic donors. He's losing touch with the base... It's a PR nightmare over at Bierman.

A great, new stadium, true...

But it will never compare to Madison on a game day.

Bruininks and company are Clowns.

Rybal, Gordon and Hofstede

Those 3 have more influence on what happens on non-University property in Stadium Village & Dinkytown than Bruininks.

Cam Gordon and Diane Hofstede are the council members for Stadium Village and Dinkytown, respectively. They can influence policy in their wards. RT Rybak as mayor has the bully pulpit.

I was down at Stub and Herbs the other day and got shown the diagram for their beer garden. It had a Surly tent, a Schells tent and a couple of Red Bull mixed drink stations.

Someone can correct me, but I believe these are old ordinences and things that need to be changed.

Stub and Herb's

i was in there a week ago, and there is not even a Gopher pennant in there with the new ownership. You would have no idea this was a campus bar, much less WHICH campus it's on. I wish they'd get some Gopher stuff on those bare walls.
