The role / involvement of the replay boot his really weird at times.
I've seen what I feel like is a frequent scenario where there will be a scoring or borderline scoring play where the refs get together to talk about it for a while. It's a close call .... and they make their new call and actually reverse the original call. No shame in that.
The replay booth doesn't even ring in ... like replay guy, if they were that confused why not give them the benefit of a second look? If they're that unsure .... help them out.
Happened at the USC game where they initially ruled a gopher touchdown and then ruled him out of bounds. Maybe the right call but if you're all debating it, someone help them take a look!
I'm open to the possibility the replay guy did look and decided their corrected call was good, but that also doesn't explain the situations where it's a little less clear and they never ring in.
I feel like the replay guys are incentivized to NOT call for a replay, a little too much at times.
