Week 14 Other Games Thread

On a play that was clearly targeting. You can't lead with the crown of your helmet and that was about as blatant as it gets. Down the stretch in regulation, Georgia got a lot of calls. It's like the replay booth especially just decided to take the 4th quarter off.

Like how do you miss this? The image doesn't do it justice, it was even more obvious watching it live. Georgia tied it up two plays later. View attachment 34856
The refs were bad but I don’t think malicious. It’s a split conference crew

I think the South Carolina/Clemson game will be of interest. If the Gamecocks win it could send Clemson to the Mayo Bowl. Could it be a matchup with the Gophers?
Yes

And other way around could send South Carolina to Nashville

Good question. Thought the same myself with the first replay. It was the top of the helmet that dislodged the ball. Plus, I wondered if forward progress had been whistled down too? The QB was being pushed backward at the point of contact. That would make him defenseless as I understand the rule.

Anyone think Purdue is going to stick around in its game today? They have nothing to play for and Indiana has everything. Could be an interesting one...
I think Indiana obliterates them and tries to run up the score as their last way to say they deserve to be in. Don’t think they’ll be tight but that’s purdues only chance

Purdue is just awful so I don’t think they can. They might be able to score a bit early and keep it close for a quarter and a half

Earlier this year Purdue was horrifically bad. Not really hyperbole. If Walters has improved them and gets the upset give him coach of the year consideration rather than a buyout. I suppose you never know.

Ryan Day loves to overthink things against Michigan. Let your horses outside win the game and instead he keeps trying to run the ball to “show we’re physical” like some kind of moron.

oh man - please give me Ryan Day postgame after a Michigan W!!!!!

OSU looks about as nervous as you can look playing football. So many unforced errors. Following their coach’s lead

Michigan is just killing me with being so ultra conservative.

Ohio St playing scared. The Clemson v South Carolina game is for a birth in the playoffs and its boring. I think I am switching to the Vandy game, at least they are playing with some zest. I'd laugh if Tennessee blew it.

They also got given the pi in ot and clear one not called on them. King fumbled when they could’ve put it away. They missed the bunny fg and failed in the red zone multiple times to put the ball in the end zone or even get points at times. Again I get there are some calls that went against them but it’s not as heavily slanted as it’s being made out to be just because the play or two you bring up occurred when they did. The tip was incredibly tough to see and his hand is on his back on the pi. Refs fuck that up all the time because they just assume you’re using it as leverage

You can't ignore the majority of the game because of OT. Georgia got significant calls/ignored calls in order to help them get the game to OT. That's total BS. It's especially bad when ever the announcers are pointing it out.

I’m just saying there are a ton of things called/not called all game both ways. We pay attention to “leverage” plays but it’s the same if they don’t call holding in the first quarter that lets a team get up. GA tech played a whale of a game, Georgia got some massive breaks but played a great second half as GA Tech got more tight. I’m not ignoring anything, but looking at it all in its entirety. It’s the joy of slow mo and continual replays that we can all see through replay that are much less clearly obvious in the real time action of the game

Baylor crushing Kansas is a surprising score. Kansas really put it together end of the year and I expected that to continue today.

When it came down to the 4th quarter, Georgia got the benefit of several massive calls (4th down PI leading to 7 points, obvious hold non-call in the red zone, non-targeting fumble with two minutes remaining). You have to squint your eyes pretty tightly to ignore the helmet bias....especially when we see glaring examples of it happening throughout the season.

Hard to play well with one hand around your throat.

Refs almost always give the benefit of the doubt to who they view as the “better” team. I do agree with that. I don’t think it’s intentional but yes they’re absolutely biased as we all are even though it’s their job not to be

I'm surprised as well, and Leipold is a good coach. Shows how tough it is to win there. Makes that 2007 season stand out as such an anomaly.
