What an embarrassment. Why is Weber still trying to be a bad quarterback during the 4th quarter in a meaningless game? How on earth is not our backup not in the game? Seriously Horton should be fired. Probably the most pathetic game I have ever watched.

Apparently, Horton thinks they can still come back.

Horton should replace Weber with Betty White?

If we continue to fire coaches, we might end up with Maturi as the head coach against Iowa.

can't believe it

I can't believe Weber is still in there. What is the purpose?

FWIW Tressel kept sending Pryor out there as well even though the game was decided a few scores ago.

Horton is as dumb as Brewster is. They are going to go through next year with growing pains at QB that they could have partially been rid of this year. Idiots.

Weber has an amazing 9 completions right now. He is a great player and should play every single snap..............

Who are these complete fools? They need to go when the next coach arrives.

Even if someone is a complete Weber rube there is no way to justify him being in the game at the end of game the Gophers have already lost. What happens if Weber gets hurt? Are we more likely to get a win next week if Weber is out? How can Weber move further up the list if he gets hurt in the waning moments of a blowout?

If Adam Weber was anywhere near the great leader that everybody claims he is he would have been imploring the coaches to give the younger guys some snaps/experience at QB.

How it Works

As the losing coach, you substitute, in essence waving the white flag. Then your opponent responds and says ok, we'll call the dogs off and put our reserves in too. That's how it works.

Just total disregard for your team, your program, any future....whether you will be a part of it or not. You have a responsibility to get kids in the game when it is 45 to 10. If the other guy doesn't respond, then you have to assess how your reserves are playing as to whether you put your starters back in. But as the team get drummed it's up to you to wave the white flag by substituting.

The only problem is if you put Gray in when Weber is your quarterback, I don't believe your opponent would be 100% sure of your motive after Weber failed to make plays time after time. Was it performance or concession?

Horton is an idiot of titanic proportions.

I think Tressel was also an idiot for exposing Pryor at the end of that game.

I can't imagine someone saying "take me out and let the young guy play" unless you are winning big. If you do that when you are losing, you are giving up. I played on some very bad football teams in high school and college and never saw anyone take themselves out of the game unless they were hurt. A leader to me is someone who continues to play hard no matter what the score is.

Stroke out people... ; 0 )

There is not another qb on the team. You people are so reactive that it really is fun listening to you all bash, trash and gash a college kid who just goes out there every time they call his number.

The U of M obviously wants to rid itself of people like you mobbers and bashers who like to trash student athletes. They want you to just go away. That is why they do what they do. This directive comes from Prexy B and Maturi. They call the shots and they feel that too many of the mobbers and bashers are just plain bad sports. They are doing this to let you people know that they are in charge.

They read your posts and just laugh...and laugh and laugh.

As they always say around the administrators' private lounge: "never let the mobbers and bashers and Weber trashers get you down. NEVER give them what they want. Let's see what great lengths they will go to on the blogs tonight in trying to bash Weber for what we administrators are doing and have done. Isn't it a hoot that some of them think we would actually allow a back-up quarterback to play in the the house that prexy b and maturi built..."

People, I just can't help laughing at you and the way you carry on, weep, gnash your teeth, mob and bash a young college kid all because the coaches during the past 3 1/2 years NEVER developed a back up qb. You fine folks are just as funny as can be. You are just SO easily had by this. Watch your blood pressure mobbers, bashers and Weber trashers.

You just aren't going to win this one, I don't think. Do you suppose that some people might be getting sick and tired of your trashing a GREAT kid? Take your toys and go home now...you just can go ahead and hold your breath until you are all blue in the face. Throw all the tantrums you want. You lose...

Not to wish injury on any player, but it occurred to me that the best thing that could happen to the Gophers in this game would have been for Weber to be despleened by a blitzing Ohio State linebacker.

OSU's QB before Pryor was man enough to step out at times & let Pryor develop. I remember watching a game when the announcer was praising his decision to have Pryor start over him & mentored him as a Big Ten QB. Also, their were a few games the jitters got to Pryor and the Senior QB stepped in until Pryor calmed down...

It's sad that Gray took more snaps at QB last year then this year...which is actually none...

Walrus

Dear Walrus,

I believe maybe you don't get it. I believe the direction of this thread is about coaching decisions that involve Weber. Not Weber.

By the logic of your rant, Brewster should be our coach now and next year because the mobsters got their way. I highly doubt anyone posting in this thread feels they are speaking to the President of the University or to the athletics director. If you feel you are doing so by posting, I really think you might want to make an appointment for some help.

I think Walrus was responding to all other Weber threads and not this one. This thread did not attack Weber's character yet this dude attacks everyone who commented on this thread with the opinion that Weber should be pulled at the end of a blowout.

Do you really not see the connection? Wouldn't giving the backup QB playing time when the game is out of reach help develop a QB? Isn't that why most of us are upset?

But I guess realizing that wouldn't let you write the tough guy holier-than-thou rant.

I just think you people are a hoot! You keep mobbing and bashing and trying to insult young Mr. Weber because he plays all the time. YOU people just don't seem to realize that there is no one to back him up. The coaches obviously don't want to put in any one else and don't feel it would do any one else any good to play this year.

So, you people just keep going off and saying the same things and it does absolutely no good.

Here is a note to any kid from Minnesota who may have a chance to take a scholarship at the U of M to play football or at any other Division I college or university to play football. Beware the "Weber Syndrom" that some so-called fans of the University of Minnesota Football Program are inflicted with.

You people have so rudely and visciously lambasted and attacked this Minnesota Kid that has done nothing more try his best to compete and do what his coaches have asked of him. You people are in the wrong and I am ashamed of any and all University of Minnesota Fans who act the way you do. You are ALL out of line. Severly out of line. The things you have been writing about this fine young man are horrible and there is NO place for the lack of decency that you people show. I hope others are kinder to your children...IF you have any...than you are to a great kid who had other options but decided to stay home at the University of Minnesota.

Beware athletes from Minnesota who are being recruited for Division I Football...beware of the "Weber Syndrom" that some University of Minnesota Footbal Fans are inflicted and infected with. Fans like these are NOT worth your time, effort or any kind of loyalty to your state University that you may have. Just read what they say about a great young kid who did stay home to play for the U of M. Beware University of Minnesota recruits. If these people attacked Mr. Weber this way, they will possibly do the SAME thing to any of you.

This kind of scrutiny happens to all athletes at all universities. It is hardly unique to the Gophers or Minnesotans recruited by the Gophers.

Walrus has no clue.

Weber is not a good QB, that is what is being analyzed. I think everybody on this board can agree that Weber is a fine person. He is not a good college QB, that is what he is being critiqued on...

WALRUS...Weber sucks (first year 1 win, this year 1 win). And YOU suck!

I didn't realize the OSU qbs decided who went in and who came out.

Every game i watched today that was out of hand....the backup came in

cousins was out of the game in the early fourth quarter against iowa

it is something the genius coaching staff at minnesota has not figured out yet

but we do have to consider that weber can continue to move up the food chain of 10,000 yard passers in the big 10 if he stays in.......and as we all know, that is a BIG DEAL

meanwhile......MSU puts in the backup qb in the early fourth quarter with the iowa starters still in and while getting destroyed

what was dantonio thinking????.......it could wreck the guy forever
