Hawks physically stronger than we are both on offense and defense. You are what you recruit. We are not there at this time. I think our best chance for a win will be against Indiana. After seeing the game today the teams coming to TCF will also be
physically stronger. Today we were handled like a rag doll. Yes, even Hageman. So boys keep the faith, but you're going to need the patience of " Job ". This recruiting year will be very important. We can't finish last again in the league rankings. You can only " coach up " a select few in any given class. Eventually God given talent wins out.

Essentially, Iowa ran through the brick wall that Kill claims that his building here at MN. I see very little improvement from last year.

Better team won today...

Offense was just awful... Defense played ok...

I just want to point out to all of you Mason haters that Glen beat Iowa in his third season.

You pretty much said it, IMO. All of our deficiencies were put on full display for the world today. Pretty depressing.

Shhhhhh. Those guys thought average wasn't good enough. I miss those days myself...

It will be an upset if they don't finish with the last ranked recruiting class in the conference again. The biggest question with regards to Kill and his staff was can they recruit well enough at this level. So far the answer has been no and probably will continue to be no. More than likely Kill will get his 5 years and after that the AD will be making a hire even bigger than the basketball coach hire.

Gotta recruit better. End of story. We're a long ways from being truly competitive in this league.

Didn't compete with a pretty bad Iowa team.

I said I wouldn't be surprised if we lost by 20. So I'm not surprised. Though I am bummed.

Does Nick Saban have a son?

EDIT; I KNOW Lou Holtz does :)

Iowa is not a bad team, but we weren't competitive,so it really doesn't matter.

I will just point out that Kill beat Iowa in his first year. Iowa won exactly 0 Big Ten games in Mason's 3rd year.

Just wait till we get that third full recruiting class. They've only had two full recruiting classes, you see, and the team is very young. That third full recruiting class will make all the difference....

I must say it was one of the most disheartening Gopher games in a long time. I really thought we'd be competitive - only to be manhandled badly on both offensive and defensive lines. We are a long ways away from BT competitiveness.

Without being able to match the physicality, I was surprised at how long we stayed with the conservative, try and grind it out offensive play calls in the 1st half. For the rest of this year, I don't see how that style is going to be successful for us. Like it or not, we are going to need to be more creative offensively - and live with the results - good or bad.

Is this the 'I'm angry and ready to blow up' thread?! Because, that's how I feel right now:

Completely uninspiring effort across the board, players and coaches alike. Very little to feel good about.

I would add, a long way from even being middle of the pack in the Big Ten, and it's not like the B1G is at a peak ebb right now.

Who gives a damn what Mason did? Honestly, he's been fired for 7 years and the team was never that good under him to give a *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# about anyway.

Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. Being competitive with the average teams in the league.

Because he's going to be the bar for any coach we hire until someone outdoes him...

Winning 40% of our Big 10 games, like coach Mason did, seems pretty good compared with how we've done since he left us.

LOL...I think you should go start that thread! It'd be more entertaining than the product on the field today...

It's still a terrible goal to shoot for. Mason never had a 3-year total span where the team finished above .500 in the conference. That's not the best this program can do.
