Vikings/Giants at TCF Bank

The ticker on the NFL network says they're exploring TCF Bank Stadium or another domed NFL stadium.

It would be really cool to have it at TCF, but considering how cold it is suppose to be (well below zero), I don't see it happening. If it was around 30 degrees, maybe.

Mortenson espn reporting many issues.

Tv rights, espn exclusive rights for monday nite game
Direct Tv
Giant did not travel with cold weather gear.
Fox tv equipment already in Detroit

My guess is Detroit

Those are the 2 big reasons the Vikings will be playing at Ford Field on Monday.

Kfan saying it will be played at another domed stadium somewhere, most likely Monday night.

Can somebody tell me what the expanded capacity of TCF would be when (and if) they add the additional seats? And where specifically would the seats be added?

It was never cold at the Met?

Didn't MLB move Cleveland and someone else to Milwaukee a couple of years ago due to snow?

A couple of things.

A. You don't have to worry about Glee new episodes are done until after Christmas so you don't have worry about that.(My GF loves the show and feels like she needs to tell me every detail.)
B. If the Giants can't get there cold weather gear to the Twin Cities by tomorrow there is something wrong with that same thing with Fox Sports Camera's
C. Don't even bother reinflating the damn dome. It's a waste of time and money, instead the State just needs to buck up and get a new Vikings Stadium done this session.

In a league where you get fined for hitting people too hard, I don't see it happening. They also mentioned that the Giants don't have their cold weather gear, and they want to play in Detroit. The FOX crew is already in Detroit anyways.

While I'm sure it's not reality, I say screw what the Giants want. They can get their cold weather gear to town in 36 hours. That's no excuse. Same with Fox. The Vikings should be allowed to move it wherever they want that will best suit their season-ticket holders.

It sounds like next mon nite game at dome vs chicago might be in jepordy also.

The numbers given were always "expandable to 70, then 80 thousand seats". Also, the seats are to be added as a third deck on the north and east sides. No seats will be added to close the horseshoe. Essentially, the seating will make the whole stadium the same height as the home (south) side is now.

If they will add 20, and then 10 thousand seats, I see them adding the north side (20K) first, and then the 10K behind the student section at a later time.

Those were always the official numbers given, but the idea that they could add just 10K or even 5K at a time to what we have now, has never been confirmed... even though the concept has been thrown around by fans.

The Vikes might want it in a dome even more than the Giants. Favre hasn't been real good outdoors lately, and I am guessing that the cold isn't real good for his sore joints and old injuries

I remember hearing that they could expand in 10k increments.

The DQ Blizzard Bowl - with NFL teams.

The Vikings should push for this. Test the fan base to see if they would go to a cold outdoor football game. Sure, a new stadium with a roof will bring the Final Four. But if they can settle for an outdoor stadium and know that people will actually go to the game, this is the way to find out. No alcohol sales is just something to live with for now. The Bears didn't have a problem when they played at UI during the Soldier Field renovation.

That is lame - there won't be anybody in the stands.

At least at the Bank people could have gone to the game.

It will be less well attended than a LIONS GAME. Thanks NFL, I bet it's going to look great on the regional broadcast tomorrow night.

If you like outdoor cold weather football watch Pats @ Bears today. 3-5 inches of snow and wind 30 mph gust to 50. Should be interesting.

Yeah, i remember that too, and i bet it's certainly possible, but haven't heard from anyone official. Do you remember where you heard that?

Not that it matters, we aren't close to needing to expand.

This sucks. Maybe they can play the Chicago game at TCF if they can't get the dome ready. They are missing a special opportunity, first outdoor pro football game since 1981. Anyone who remembers the met knows that it brought out the best in our fans. I guess I'm just nostalgic.

What is everyone's take on where they could get capacity with temporary stands in the end zone and on the visitor's side.

You mean like throwing empty booze bottle at the refs:rolleyes:

Lame NFL. Very Lame. No reason not to play it at the Bank.

1. Low capacity
2. Parking tough
3. Outdoors
4. Booze

I think it would have been a viable option for the Vikings to play in, but to say there is no reason not to play there is not realistic.

Good point. By best I didn't mean sportsmanship, etc. I meant full throated support of the team and solidarity against the cold. It was definitely not for the faint of heart. But it was also a lot of fun.

Game to be played in Detroit. 6:20 pm central.

Ed Werder said they wanted to move it to TCF, but it has been unused for so long that it would take a week to get back up. Maybe for the MNF game?
