I don't want to debate the order of our trophies (axe>floyd>jug>bell, btw), but I am curious if anyone actually cares about the victory bell trophy? To be honest, I don't.

I don't know how you can have a trophy when there is no rivalry. No rivalry here. Unfortunately, from the Michigan perspective, the same thing has happened with the Jug.

We were Penn State's first ever Big Ten opponent, so a trophy was created. That's pretty much it. I don't think the Victory Bell has ever meant a thing to anyone. Even the big 1999 win in Happy Valley didn't spark interest in the trophy itself.

Aren't there 4 empty trophy cases in the locker room for recruits and players to look at. With the realignment and Penn St. being in the other division starting next year it might be a few years before we play them again. I say take the darn thing....get something in one of those trophy cases and keep it for a few years. We will have to battle Wisconsin and Iowa every year but the Michigan and Penn St. trophies won't be up for grabs so much.

Love your moniker. The only thing good about Wisconsin is that is gives us an Eastern Bank of the Mississippi River and the St.Croix River.

This is a good point. I would also appreciate a good sideline rush.

is that a functioning bell? if it doesn't have a dong then it isn't a bell.

better than the land grant trophy. Hey! Let's grab a block of wood and glue stuff to it!

amazing how that bball thing sucked the wind outta this place. lookin for 4 in row and you and me are talking trophies/bell/dong.

It's a trophy and I want to see the players run across the field and grab it after a victory. Other than that, Penn State just isn't a rivalry game.

What a crappy attitude all too many people have...

Is PSU a Conference Member? Do we keep track of the score when we play them? Do we have a growing history of games with them? Every Big Ten (B1G) win my Golden Gopher Football Team gets over a Conference Foe is a damn BIG deal. It HELPS this football program. Every loss my Golden Gopher Football Team has to a Conference Foe hurts a heck of a lot. So since this IS a Conference game, let's play it like it is the MOST significant Conference game we will play this week. You people had best believe that ANY Conference game and EVERY Conference game is a rivalry game. It becomes part of my Golden Gopher Football Team's HISTORY. It REFLECTS directly on this football program. My Golden Gopher Football Team NEEDS to compete with EVERY Conference Team it plays. There is got to be passion, intensity and a sense of RIVALRY against every other team in the conference. That will also be true when this new chapter of the conference introduces the University of Maryland and Rutgers University to the mix.

Come on people: get with it. This is BIG TEN FOOTBALL! The year is 2013. Quit being such wimps and let's have a hell of a great game against our rivals from THE Penn State Unviersity!

Shouldn't we already the bell? No records should indicate a vacated win:confused: If we play for a trophy, go get it.

I'd rather have it than not have it. I'd rather not have an empty trophy case whenever possible.

If a trophy exists it is better to have it than not have it. Is it a great thing? not at my house but seriously i woudl rather have it and build a reputation of having these trophies than the empty space we currently have.
get the bell and Bring the F-ing Axe home!!!!!!!!!!!

need to redowel that trophy. when do we play PSU next?

We play Penn St. for a trophy?

That trophy looks like it was made in a PSU shop class. Not only is it missing the mystique of the other classic trophies, those mothers are made to last. What the hell, I'll take it.

they just broke it lol

Saw that. I thought to myself they just got it now don't go and break it right away! lol. That would put an end to the trophy game if you go and rip the thing apart when you get it.

The Broken Victory Bell

they just broke it lol

I laughed too. Who designed this thing? At least the Jug, Floyd, and the Axe are fairly robust. Floyd in particular. The Jug can be broken but it is probably pretty thick earthenware. The Victory Bell looks like it was designed by artists not giving much thought to the fact that football players would be rushing the opposing bench to scoop it up, treat it roughly, man handle it, and parade it around a stadium. They should ditch the assembly which the bell hangs from and just glue the bell to the base. If they don't, it will just be broken again. On second thought, maybe we should not fix it. Just leave it the way it is, and see how much it falls apart over the years. Eventually, we will just keep all the broken parts in a sturdy box, and just trade the entire package to each other. I still want to know who designed and manufactured this trophy. Anybody know?

I appreciate it because it's the appetizer the main course is the Axe. Go Gophers!

But if it doesn't have a dong, it could be a belle.
