"Blue was highly recruited before committing to the Badgers last April, receiving interest from Marquette, Indiana and Kentucky. Blue denied message board rumors that he was wavering in his commitment in mid-January.

Despite decommiting, Blue will still consider Wisconsin during this new round of recruiting. Louisville and Minnesota are now in the mix as well."

A few posters over on the Wisconsin Scout board seem convinced that he'll end up heading to Marquette to play with Jeronne Maymon. There is another less substantial rumor going around that he wants to play in the ACC. Of course, these are all rumors.

But if the Gophers do get involved for Blue again, it would certainly add another twist to what is shaping up as an already interesting 2010 recruiting class for Minnesota basketball.

I love this. A lot of my friends were really looking forward to Blue becoming a Badger, especially after the performance he put up in the State Tourney. I am going to enjoy breaking this news to them!

My ideal 2010 class would be Harrison Barnes, Vander Blue (Cory Joesph if we can't get Blue), and a 6'10-7'0 F/C (maybe that kid from New Mexico).

If Blue doesn't come here I'd prefer he go to Marquette. It's always fun when Marquette beats up on the Badgers and I'm kind of a Marquette fan (after the Gophs of course) any way.

I'm having one of those moments where you look back and realize how far the program has come under Tubby. In fact, I was just thinking the other day, "when was the last time we were legitimately in the running for the No. 1 national recruits in both football and basketball?" I know, I know, it's still early on both of them. But the fact that the Gophers are already mentioned highly by both Seantrel Henderson and Harrison Barnes is pretty fun just to think about. And now if Tubby and Co. get into the Vander Blue mix, it will be quite interesting.

In any case, I like the way you think Madtown!!!:clap:

Seriously, how often does a recruit decommit from a school then recommit to them later? I really don't think Wisconsin's still in the mix.

I think you're wrong.

Hey Ole. Can't speak for everyone but I think we all respect your opinion. What do you think (or have heard) is going on here? Is this all Maymon related or is there more to it and do you think Minnesota is a legit option if Blue decides to go elsewhere. Thanks for what you're willing to speculate on.

Going to be a long summer for UW fans listening to the inevitable rumors. Vander is very, very talented. If he works as hard this summer as he did last summer, he going to be something else next season. The UW program really needs a player like Blue to stay near the top of an improving Big 10. Hopefully Bo and his staff put forth the necessary effort this summer re-convince (is that a word?) Vander that Madison is the place for him.

Does anyone here post also on the Milwaukee Bucks message boards? Because I saw a link to gopherhole there when reading the thread about the same thing. If so, I am glad there is still another bucks fan out there with me!! And don't take any of their stuff serioulsly they post there, some of them are amazingly huge homers. I am just excited to see gopherhole growing out into the world, even on a Bucks message board! And hopefully we can get this kid here, if we don't get Joseph!

I read that Bucks board more than I actually post there, but that was me. I'm a pretty big Bucks fan.

FoT,
If you look at Bronko's post, it's a pretty clear case of poking fun at the neighbors to the east. Any Minnesotan who has spent time with someone raised in Wisconsin knows that bubbler is their word for the water fountain. That and Duck Duck Gray Duck (MN) vs. Duck Duck Goose (WI). We don't need schooling on what a bubbler is.

A friend of mine knows teacher at Memorial and heard from him that he talked to Blue and his top 3 are Marquette, Minnesota, and Louisville, Louisville sounding like they are likely the favorite.

i know. was just having a "little fun" with our becky brethren to the east. ;)

Off topic, but I grew up in Wisconsin with the "bubbler" term deeply ingrained in my consciousness. In 5th grade I had a teacher from Georgia. I approached her during a work time during class and asked if I could go to the bubbler. She gave me the craziest, most apalled look I'd ever seen, and said "Absolutely not!" I slunk back to my desk wondering why this really nice teacher didn't seem to like me.

A few minutes later she came over to me and apologetically asked if I meant the drinking fountain. She apparently thought a "bubbler" must be some sort of bar!

Ole can confirm but I don't think there is much doubt that Marquette and Louisville have been in Blue and his family's ear for a long time now and sounds like the Maymons aren't helping things with there hard feelings toward Bo and Wisc. Minnesota is in the mix but a long shot at best. Minnesota hasn't had contact with Blue since he committed. They will make some calls to gauge interest and go from there but not likely. There would still be a chance he re-ups with Wisconsin but it is yet to be seen how coach Ryan handles the situation and he may decide he will not get into the rat race for Blue and just find anohter kid to take that spot.

Madtown where did you get that shirt in your pic...i would love to have one of those living in wisconsin.

Marcus Fuller over at the Pioneer Press is now saying on his blog that he has heard the Gophers will "heavily pursue" Vander Blue on the recruiting trail. He also says he's heard that Marquette and Louisville lead for his services.

Additionally, he says he wouldn't be surprised if Harrison Barnes makes an official visit to the U at some point. He also says he thinks recruiting Barnes constitutes an uphill battle with Duke, North Carolina and Kansas in the mix.

Some interesting notes I guess, but again, nothing particularly earth shattering.

I have that shirt too and love it. Sadly, every time I wear it when Minnesota plays Wisconsin, Minnesota has lost like every time...therefore, the shirt has been retired in rivalry games.

:(

Any Bucky's loss is my gain, I guess.. But, would I feel a bit sad on the BT losing a great prospect if he chose either Marquette or Louisvile.. Just a lil bit at least...

WSJ today said that Blue is still committed to the badgers but the reason he's looking elsewhere is because he might not be able to get thru admissions. Anyone know if that's the case?
