I think it's the tilt of the diamond shapes that cause the optical illusion.

The darker blue lines in this pic are all parallel to each other.

Ok. Been looking and measuring, etc. I think what is parallel are the diamonds and little squigglies in the center of the dark blue lines. The blue lines themselves are not (or maybe they are, lol).
