Updated: Harris Dismissed From Gopher Football Program

This just shows you that there is always going to be issues like this, the only way to judge a coach is how he deals with them.

What a terribly dumb move by GeShun Harris. Besides it being morally disgusting, it's just dumb.

On the plus side, Cameron Botticelli probably doesn't have to pay for school next year.

Looks like it will end up with someone more deserving.

I'm not going to worry about losing a guy who made one catch last year.

It's one thing to do it; it's another to not tell the coaches about it after having been questioned, and for them to find out second-hand. Not good.

Wow - stealing bags at the airport...what a thief. Good job losing a free ride and having a college degree!

You don't get felony charges and survive on a roster very often.

Maybe not a football roster, but...

Interesting to read the responses to Kill's decision. Have to wonder how different they'd be if Mr. Harris had more than one reception last season.

Maybe I am naive, but I think the responses would be the same. I did not hear anything but support last season when Jewhan Edwards was kicked off/quit the team and he would have been a returning starter, our best defensive lineman (he was the season before), playing a position where we lacked depth.

I said often lol...also, he basically had a history of theft, so when you have camera evidence of you committing another one, it's a little stronger case than just someone ID'ing you.

Let's face it, more productive players usually get longer rope than others, that's just reality. That said, Kill (at least right now as he's building up) doesn't come across as a guy who is going to be one of those "look the other way" guys when it comes to his stars, while railing against his less productive players.

Yep, it's reality - for many people. It (different rules for more productive players) is just another example of a lack of principles that can be seen in every day life.

"a little stronger case than just someone ID'ing you"... yes, if you're going to judge legal matters from afar. However, guilty verdicts are a stronger indication of guilt per the legal system than charges are.

Even when he calls the officer and confesses, after his mom called in and said it was her son?

No different. IMO, Coach Kill is 100% my way or the highway.

The PiPress article says Harris pleaded guilty in December.

Kill just found out about it this week???

That's why Ge'Shun is off the team. My gut feel is if Harris had manned up to what he did early on in this process, Kill would've punished him--- but I don't think he would've received the boot.

I don't have any inside knowledge, just an opinion!

I agree with wels, Kill is about changing kids lives and making them better people. If he would have told the coaches or not lied to them, he'd likely be suspended for a couple games and still on the team.

Not unlike a certain Coach Taylor.

Texas Forever.

I think that was a seperate incident Wels, and I'm not certain Kill knew about that incident. This incident took place in January...

I think he's trying to insinuate we should have all hated Trevor Mbakwe and demanded he be kicked off the basketball team like Harris. And the only reason he wasn't is because he produces.

I was watching Channel 5, as Bill Lund casually covered the dismissal of Ge Shun Harris and punctuated the story with, he was a non-factor last year.

Bill Lunn is a stand up guy. He is a pleasant lad who lives in a nice neighborhood.

Coach Taylor is my 2nd favorite coach of all time, behind only to the great Bud Grant. Coach Kill is making his way up the list, just needs some more wins.

Some people might want different standards if he were a major contributor, but this kind of nonsense kills teams. I would want a discipline problem like this out of my locker room even if he were named Andrew Luck.

Spencer Hall at EDSBS has awarded us 6 points in the Fulmer Cup. We are tied for 5th. nowhere near our runner up year in 2007.

It's shocking that the SEC has won the Fulmer Cup three of the six years they've done it.

How can you say that when we were so deep in WR last year??? :p

When you can't make an impact at a thin position it says something.

I still remember Bobby Bowden not suspending Sebastian Janikowski for the Sugar Bowl after being arrested in a fight and being accused of trying to bribe a police officer. The worst part is, Bowden made some kind of comment about how rules don't apply the same for all players. Pure class, Bobby!

I remember that comment and it is ridiculous, but at least Bowden had that guts/stupidity to say exactly what a lot of coaches actually do.

I wonder what happened to his S&C team? Do they penalize the team for the misconduct or just 'subtract' his stats from their averages.

Pretty sure his team lost points for his actions. And I think his team was 1 point away from the title game so it had a pretty big effect on things.
