will Tim Brewster throw under the bus this year? Will he throw them after the Iowa game or or wait until after the big match up against the MAC in the Pizza Bowl?

Fisch? Davis? Lee? Himself?

Has to be Davis. He was brought in with the express purpose of getting the running game going and coaching the OL, and both have been disasters this year. I can't imagine he'll be around next year.

He won't be firing any assistants with guaranteed years at more than 50K per year. Not after he fired Dunbar with years at 270K per without Maturi's blessing.

I think Brewster's greatest flaw as head coach has been an inability to
find good, loyal assistant coaches who know how to run a Big Ten
offense and defense. This revolving door of assistants make it look
like the program is out of control.

One of the reasons why it is nice to hire a proven winning coach is that he
usually comes with several guys he knows and trusts that can implement what
he wants to do. Brewster never had that - he is good at a lot of things such
as recruiting and motivating people but he is still searching for people that
can coach a winning offensive and defensive gameplan.

As of right now, I would even take Glen Mason back and I never thought I would
ever say that, but could we keep Brewster as our recruiting coordinator??

I guarantee you -- the next coach we get will come in with successful head
coaching experience. I would bet anyone 1000.00 on that one.

That's shows a great deal of confidence in Joel...but I don't think he'll follow your advice on Mase.

Well, New England, that wouldn't exactly be my advice....lol
but you have to agree Maturi has a vested interest in the football
coach here, especially since he hired him!

If the program goes South, the fingers will eventually point back
at Maturi for hiring Brewster, especially because he had no collegiate
head coaching/coordinator experience. As a result, this was kind of a gamble
that he took when he hired Brewster in the first place.

I don't think anyone will be fired, but it will be interesting to see if any leave of their own volition or move to other programs.

None of the assistants can really be happy with the inconsistent results their coaching efforts are producing...they must be working pretty hard to improve the situation and trying to stay positive...although I wouldn't be surprised to see one or more throw in the towel in frustration and move on after the bowl.

That said, all the current gloom and doom will evaporate if the Gs give the Hawks a competitive game the program can be proud to build on for next year. Staff coaching stability would be very important with that scenaro.
