With the Vikings season ending today, Minnesota is now at 101 combined seasons with the Vikes, Wild, Twins and Wolves without a championship appearance.

Go Gophers!!

Wolves officially eliminated from the playoffs today so number climbs to 102 combined seasons without a championship appearance.

With increasing signs that the Vikings are now in decline, it feels like it's up to the Twins now.

MN United are 1 signing away from being serious contenders, I like my chances there better than the twins. The twins would have to basically have the luck of winning the lottery 3x in a row to win again. The teams that out spend them will always beat them in a playoff series.

The United count the same as the Lynx. They don't.

Perhaps. I think the Vikings "decline" is over-stated. They have traded up and down season the entire Zimmer era and I expect it to continue, right up to a devastating play-off loss. I think the Twins have a decent shot at winning the Central, but their rotation is nowhere near good enough to win a play-off series against Boston/Houston/NYY.

The Astros don't win that WS unless they trade for Verlander, and i see the Twins being able to do similar if they're in serious contention one of these summers.

Putting on soccer is an excellent way to help yourself fall asleep.

I prefer golf as my sport to watch when I want to take a nap. Baseball has kind of gotten that way but I was able to stay up for the whole twins game last night for some reason.

Too bad you can't appreciate women's sports bruh.

Who said that? If Lynx titles count this entire thread is irrelevant. It's nice to have them. It doesn't ease the pain of our ineptitude in the major sports. FWIW, I'd much rather watch a Lynx game than a soccer game.

It’s ok bro. You don’t have to watch either of them. We know you already don’t.

“We’re talking about the 4 major sports” in your first reply would have sufficed. Frankly, as a United fan myself, I could do without people trying to force them into the major sport conversation. I don’t need others to validate my hobbies.

But you and I both know what you were trying to accomplish by comparing them to the Lynx. Don’t be an asshole.

It's in the thread title which teams this discussion is about. I wasn't trying to "accomplish" anything. Winning titles in other sports is fine, it doesn't change the topic at hand. Give me a break.

I'm sure most of you have figured it out, but I used the Vikings, Twins, North Stars/Wild, and Wolves because they're the most popular pro sports teams locally and leagues across the country. I don't watch much soccer but will enjoy a Lynx game once in awhile. I just don't think either one is at the popularly level of the four other teams.

Perfect. The Lynx's success has taken some of the sting out of the drought, but it's not the same as being one of the four major pro sports leagues.

I think most people would argue Green Bay should be included with Milwaukee so they shouldn’t be on the list.

^^^

Not that you can really include college sports for multiple reasons, but Wisconsin has been able to enjoy additional success through the Badgers and Marquette basketball as well. I don't feel too bad for anyone who is a fan of that state's sports.

Now that Toronto is off that list and Milwaukee shouldn't even be on it, I wonder who is 2nd and what the number is.

Milwaukee shouldn't be on that list, the Packers are their football team. What a stupid list.

championships are overrated. liking a team that is a lovable loser or middle of the pack builds character and nurtures esprits de corps.

Spoken like a true MN sports fan.

For the record yesterday I was thinking about the twins making the playoffs and my thoughts instantly went to "we'll probably get swept in the first round by the yankees" and then immediately after that I thought "well at least we made the playoffs"...... I kind of wish I was lying
