Obviously the Wild and Wolves ain't gonna get it done.
Hey, maybe it will be the Twins once again??

538 gives the Wild a 6% chance to make the Stanley Cup Final. That seems about right.Obviously the Wild and Wolves ain't gonna get it done.

This feels like impossibly easy money if there's a way to bet on this in Vegas. You'd wager a lot to win a little, probably, but it's practically certain what's going to happen in both cases.538 gives the Wild a 6% chance to make the Stanley Cup Final. That seems about right.
They also give the Wolves a 4% chance to make the NBA Finals. That seems overly optimistic, IMO, given their current player availability.
You could wager on every team but Minnesota to Win the Conference. That would require 7 wagers in the NHL & 8 for the NBA.This feels like impossibly easy money if there's a way to bet on this in Vegas. No change tonight!
Go Minnesota Sports!!
No matter how you slice this statistically, it's really...something.I also believe this is now 40 combined playoff appearances without a championship game/series appearance since Twins ‘91.

On top of that, there have only been 7 appearances by a Minnesota team in the SEMIFINALS since the last title. Not only that, it's that many seasons without a Championship game appearance I believe.
Never thought I'd say this but thank God the Vikings have been around to give that hope once a decade. On top of that, there have only been 7 appearances by a Minnesota team in the SEMIFINALS since the last title.
Vikings NFC Champ 98, 01, 09, 18
Twins ALCS 02
Wild WCF 03
Wolves WCF 05
Wolves were actually '04.On top of that, there have only been 7 appearances by a Minnesota team in the SEMIFINALS since the last title.

I mean, theoretically closer time-wise based on the theory that this will end some day, but that's only a theory; it's never been tested. But yes, no closer possibilities/potential-wise. The closest we've been has been the Vikes in '98 and '09, which were both a whisker away from the Super Bowl. None of our current teams are anywhere near as good as those two Viking teams. Those shape up as the high water marks as far as the eye can see. As Sundance said, "Maybe this is the garden spot in all of Bolivia."And we are no closer to this nonsense ending than we were when the thread started.

Seattle is an interesting comp. M's are bearing down on 50 years of existence without an American League pennant.Seattle has to be close, in a sense. Yeah I know, Seahawks have three Super Bowl appearances and a win, which is everything.
But if you look at their championship game appearances, and just note that they won those instead of find a way to lose them, then in that feeble sense they’re “similar” to the Vikings.
Mariners were good in the 90’s with Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey Jr. Haven’t done much since?
Sonics were so bad they folded.
Kraken are new, no idea what will happen.
They have a major public state flagship university in the core urban area that doesn’t contend for championships in football or basketball.
And Vikings should be ‘00 and ‘17, not ‘01 and ‘18.Wolves were actually '04.
NFL is always confusing as the playoffs (generally) have been in the next calendar year after the regular season, but yes should be the '98, '00, '09 & '17 seasons for the Vikes. The NFC Championship defeats all came the following January. And Vikings should be ‘00 and ‘17, not ‘01 and ‘18.

1998-2005 were the good old days. We just didn't know it....On top of that, there have only been 7 appearances by a Minnesota team in the SEMIFINALS since the last title.

We call those the good old days.Point taken re: years.
Still, the broader point remains that Minnesota sports teams only have 7 semifinal appearances in the last 32 years, 4 of which came in a 4 year stretch in the early 2000s.
20 years ago now!1998-2005 were the good old days. We just didn't know it....
We're going to have to wait a few months for the next one. The short attention span people are going to have to find a hobby or something.Boom.
