Tuesday against Indiana...

Alvin Ellis was retweeting tweets to him saying things like "We need you because Tubby is terrible." And "hopefully tubby is gone when you get here."

I don't think recruits care too much. As long as we don't turn on the players.

Think again.

Some people here are calling for booing and/or silence in the Barn on Tuesday, as if an immediate coaching change is more important than the game against Indiana. We have got to be the most pathetic fanbase ever.

Agreed. We still have three shots to create some excitement this season:

1. Beat #1 in the nation at home
2. Get in the NCAA tournament (no certainty at this point)
3. Win the BT Tournament
4. Sweet 16 or better

Looking forward to Tuesday.

Go Gophers!!

Offering unsolicited advice is against my religion...having said that I'm going to sin.
Strongly advise against personal attacks or general snarkiness toward the team in general or Tubby in particular at the Barn come Tuesday. Many if not most of us on this forum have had it with Tubby and some members of the team, and for good reasons. Venting on numerous posts here is natural and therapeutic for us (long?)suffering fans, but taking that demeanor to the Barn for a conference game cannot turnout other than badly. Public scoffing of our coach and/or team in the Barn is not only a humiliation of them, but also the bb-program in general and its history at the Barn. Not suggesting anybody cheer for someone they don't believe deserves cheering, (silence speaks volumes), but please leave the calls for Shaka etc in your pockets. It will be televised to our competitors.

End of sermon...

Line for Indiana game?

Trying to guess what the line will be for the Indiana game.

My first thought is Indiana -9, but the oddsmakers usually give us quite a bit of respect when we play at Williams.

Tuesday against Indiana...

I'll be cheering my fool head off for the Gophers.

Wow.. not a hoops or Gopher fan eh? The number 1 team is coming to town and I am excited to attend. There is always a buzz. I hope we kick the F'ing living sh$t out of Indy. I will cheer loudly for the Gophers. I didn't buy season tickets to use my seats as a pawn.. I bought them to support the U because I love the U. The coaching situation will take care of itself in time.

+1000000

In my opinion, "Fire Tubby" chants would give the impression that you would rather see Tubby fail and get fired and than watch him defy your expectations by beating the #1 team in the country. It also shows that you care more about jeering the coach than cheering on the team. These last two games have been disappointing, but I will absolutely not be booing Tubby, and I will be loudly cheering for the Gophers to get a win to remember.

I would not start a "Fire Tubby" chant at the beginning. In fact, I would cheer from the beginning.

But, if we see the same effort we have seen in all the games since Michigan (yes, even the offensive efforts against Iowa @ home and against Wisconsin sucked), then the chants would be in order.

so why aren't those tweets there?

He was just RT Gopher fans. Some that I can remember kind of about Tubby were:

"Hopefully Tubby doesn't coach you down"

And

"I hope you know how to solve a 2-3 zone"

I didn't think he was being critical of Tubby with the RT, just being appreciate of Gophers fans really wanting him here.

Actually, I'm both a hoops and Gopher fan...I just know that one of the few tools for change that fans have is their attendance or lack their of.

You must not have season tickets.

I for one will be cheering as nothing constructive can come out of booing. There will be recruits at the game, etc.
It the team continues to fold, the coaching change will take care of itself.

No reason to boo; Tubby has left a sufficient impression upon Teague

I can't believe ANYONE would BOO our team!! That REALLY is BUSH LEAGUE stuff. If you don't like the coach send him an email or snail mail and let him know and do the same for Norwood et al. I am sure a lot of people have already done that. Reserve your dislike of the coach in private not in front of the players

Love this--need more people with this attitude.

If I was in the student section, I would definitely bow to Tubby. Will be a Tubby supporter until the end.

Excellent post.

I'd be thrilled for a few days if we beat Indiana, but only because of revived hope for the other two. At the end of the day, it has to be 2 or 3 for me to enter the off-season excited. They don't hang banners for impressive regular season upsets. This team is way too good for the high point of this season to be an OT win against a rival or even a regular season upset of the #1 team in the country.

Way too good? They were 6-12 the last two years in conference. Pretty much the same team as last year.

We are playing the number one team in the country and the game is nationally televised. Our recruits will be watching. We should go to cheer loudly and see if we can lift this corpse of a team back to life. The team will need everything the crowd has. Even if we win I think Tubby gets fired - assuming Teague is competent- so there is nothing to lose in just rooting for the Gophers and doing so with the passion the team has not shown.

Well said

Teague should have cancelled our series with IU this year and substituted New Mexico State.

Pretty much the same team as last year, except everyone is a year more experienced and are double-double machine at PF didn't miss the entire conference season. This may be pretty much the same team as last year, but it is the exact same team that at one point was playing well enough that the people who are payed to watch college basketball labeled us the 8th best team in the country.

I would cheer the players upon introductions and cheer for the players during the game..boo the refs, boo the opposing team and YES, I would BOOOOOOOOOOO when they announced Tubby as the head coach. Watching a team so sloppy and devoid of basic fundamentals and then watching the Coach throw them under the bus game after game is criminal. Coming from a military background, leaders are taught that when their subordinates fail and make the same mistakes over and over again, its a leadership problem. You don't see Generals throwing privates under the bus when a mission goes awry. At over 2 Million a season, Tubby makes twice as much as any Military Officer, by the way. Criminal!

We have a chance for a historic upset here, maybe a slim one, but it's a game and funny things happen. If I could be there, I would be, and I would be hoarse afterward. I am as frustrated with Tubby as anyone, but I have never attended or watched a sporting event on TV to support the coaches. If you're a gopher fan, support these kids with, or in spite of Tubby.

Confidence can be contagious, we might make a bunch of 3s, maybe they have a cold night, it happens. The hoosiers are not robots, they make dumb mistakes too....they let Illinois have wide open layup to win the game. Surely they could have another off night.

Forever an optimist. Yes, maybe foolishly, but it's more fun.

I'm in full replace Tubby mode but I can not understand the concept of booing him or the team at the Barn. That is so bush league and would be an embarrassment to the team, program and school. It will accomplish nothing. Teague and the powers that be will decide Tubby's fate at the end of the season.

Post your complaints and rants here, not at the game. I would like to think the University of Minnesota is a place that recruits and coaches would like to come to, let's not embarrass the program and school. Fulfilling your need to feel better(by booing) only serves as an embarrassment to the team and school. Is that what you really want?

As jamalo said; "No reason to boo; Tubby has left a sufficient impression upon Teague"

And sorry Moses, but bad coaching and poor play are not criminal.

Are you 13 yrs old? Get a grip my dude. You are comparing college basketball to the military. You are ridiculous! I bet you think your booing will be heard by tubby and he will become emotional because you think he sucks at life, tubby doesn't care what you think and he shouldn't. It's a joke that a grown ass man is plotting his negativity at a sporting event rather than going to the game to have fun. Instead of being butt hurt maybe you should stay home and watch The Lord of the Rings or something?

Wow you are out there. Totally clueless.
