Just heard from my source - they said that Maturi will issue a press release to show the message Trevor sent was not bad, and he will play but not start.

Honestly - this is completely a 180 from what he was told earlier today - and I wonder if all of you had a HUGE part in this by really making your voices heard and putting the pressure on? Who knows what caused it, but he's back!

Thank Goodness.

Trevor-

Be very, very careful...please!

Great news! Thanks a lot Gopher Lady!

Obviously, there is no press release yet, so I don't count it as 100% until there is, but got a message from my source, who heard it from Trevor.

Da.mn good scoop of info Nadine. Your ballin' out of control the last 24 hours.

Good for Trevor. :) And if true it's good to see the " powers that be " are doing the right thing as well.

After hearing about Trevor, and suffering this mornings commute, this would be fantastic news!

Now, can someone cancel my staff meeting after school?

Awesome news for Trevor, glad he will get to be back on the court with his teammates and do what he loves. Great news.

Excellent news .. or almost news .. Wonder how many emails JM received?

If Tubby and Joel had a meeting this morning, like was reported, I'm thinking Tubby got up in Joel's grill and told him not to suspend him. I'm guessing Tubby probably told Joel he'll not start Trevor as some sorta half-compromise. I really like to believe Tubby took up for Trevor and won out.

Well Mbakwe coming in with the first "line change" will at least make the line change feel a little better.

Or maybe the "source" that squealed about him being suspended got it wrong in the first place.

I knew this would be a question - but all I can say is this source would have not motive to do that. Trust me, if he was given the okay this morning, instead of told what he was, they would have been jumping for joy.

Imagine if Maturi had never intended to suspend Mbakwe, waited til he got out of jail, talked to the kid and got the facts and then made a decision that he should play, not start.

Then he shouldn't have told Mbakwe that he was leaning that way, and had to put the program 1st, and was getting a lot of heat for this. He could have just said, he needed more information, wanted to get all the facts, and decide. That would have saved Trevor (and all us) from a lot of freaking out.

Then he shouldn't have told Mbakwe that he...was getting a lot of heat for this.

If this is true, exactly correct GL. Who is to say that all the emails from outraged fans didn't pressure him back the other way to where he isn't fully suspended??? The man repeatedly admits to making decisions using the worst possible set of guidelines: outside factors that have no bearing on the issue at hand.

This is the right thing. Any idea if he just not starting on Thursday or for the rest of the year? Not that it really matters, because Tubs could sub him in right away anyway.

Hope this is right, cause we need a dose of good fortune for once lol.

It would seem that the facts are now in and a decision has been made. Only now can we really decide for ourselves if it was a reasonable decision. I think it was. Most people have been very sensible about this. But, those that already lighting up the Maturi effigies will have to wait for another day; as will the few who would send Mbakwe packing.

No decision according to SI at 3:16 Eastern Time

AD Maturi says no decision yet after Mbakwe arrest

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota star Trevor Mbakwe's status with the team is being reviewed following an arrest for an alleged violation of a restraining order against the junior forward.

Athletics director Joel Maturi said in an e-mail Tuesday afternoon that a decision about Mbakwe's availability for the next game had not been made.

The Gophers host eighth-ranked Purdue on Thursday night.

Mbakwe leads the Gophers with 13.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He was taken to jail Monday night on misdemeanor charges for allegedly posting a message on the Facebook page of a woman who had previously filed a restraining order against him.

Well someone isn't telling the truth then...either GL's sources, someone in the AD, etc? Or, maybe no one knows?

If Maturi told Mbakwe he could play, then comes out with this bull*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#. his head needs to roll

Obviously, a very fluid situation and a lot of input is being offered to the University. Even if they have decided to let him play, they will need to have legal, PR and someone in the upper levels of the school sign off with a written statement approved by who knows how many eyes. Someone will draft some Q & A's for talking points. They may have told Trevor to hold on and let the process catch up with the decision.
