We can probably discontinue this (or at least put it on COVID pause) if the Gophers lose twice this week.
For a "must win at home", that's certainly not how I was viewing it at tip! Huge victory if there's any chance for a tournament berth.Updated through win over Rutgers. Gophers currently 11-5, 2-5 in Big Ten. Current NET ranking is #77.
With the Alcorn game canceled, the number of wins needed to be locked & loaded for an at-large bid before heading to Indy for the Big Ten Tournament is (Hey) 19.

The 50/50 games are in doubt. 6-2 will be tough with Iowa and Indiana left
I figure 17-12 should be good enough for the NIT. So that's still 6 more wins. No sure thing. Are our NIT odds pretty good? I'd be thrilled with an NIT bid in year 1.
That would bite to get that close to 19.I figure 17-12 should be good enough for the NIT. So that's still 6 more wins. No sure thing.
No, it's not, especially with Curry back playing well and TT able to take on more of a role if need be.So we basically need to win out on the top two sections (which I think is doable) and that gets us to 8 wins in the Big Ten.
Then we need to win 2 of these 5: at Iowa, Indiana, Purdue, at Ohio St, Wisconsin
Call me crazy, but I don't think that's asking for a miracle yet.
Puke. Are our NIT odds pretty good? I'd be thrilled with an NIT bid in year 1.
Puke.
Anytime you talk NIT, I don't care where your team is at its garbage, puke in your shoes time.
I'd rather they sit at home and learn to crochet than play in the NIT.
Garbage junk I would turn it down every time. I wouldn't even pick up the phone should they call and I don't care what our roster looks like.
No, some of us don't care for the friendship bracket.Well, thats just a bad take
Are you one of those guys who complains about having too many bowl games? No, some of us don't care for the friendship bracket.
Any coach at the U that declines an NIT invite should be given a lifetime contract.
Explain your thinking here - you would rather not play at all than play in the NIT because......Puke.

No because bowl games don't matter much and are basically just a vacation for the team. Are you one of those guys who complains about having too many bowl games?

Nope, I give a lifetime contract to the coach that says the NIT is for losers and wins enough to dance and stays there forvever. So you want to give a liftime contract to a coach who just missed the NCAAs and made the NIT instead
Excellent logic
17 wins us into the NIT? without any wins in the Tourney. The NCAA hopes are basically dead. Need to go 6-4 to lock down an NIT birth. That's the goal.
17-12 seems reasonable to me. If 19-10 is good enough for the NCAA's, 2 wins less should still be NIT worthy. It depends a bit on the rest of the B1G. They will generally take about 2 teams per conference.17 wins us into the NIT? without any wins in the Tourney.
