Tim Miles

That's sort of what I was alluding to when I said that if Miles had his resume at NC A & T and then Winthrop, people wouldn't be interested. For some reason, people like that Midwest connection. I don't really see the point in it, but to each their own.

As far as it being their dream job, that only matters for me because I think it would be easier to get them. Once we have them, I don't care if they are Saint Paul or Moscow. But I understand that is important to some people.

I think having recruited in the area for years could help, but I don't think that's a big advantage especially since he would have been recruiting completely different kids for NDSU and CSU than he would be here. There's probably some advantage from having existing relationships with HS and AAU coaches.

The only reason I might disagree with the dream job thing would be the possibility of them pulling a Lou Holtz and leaving after a year for their dream job. Again, the importance of this is probably overstated a lot of the time.

I hear you and those are things that used to influence my decision, but they don't anymore.

They don't because I think for the top notch kids, the kids like Tyus, Reid, Vaughn that Tim Miles probably wouldn't mean much more to them than Anthony Grant. I think Anthony Grant would probably be better at recruiting those top kids, he's done it in Florida and Alabama. I think where Tim Miles would have an initial boost is with the fringe guys and some of the more outstate prospects, but I have the belief (maybe naive) that any coach wearing the maroon and gold cap is going to get those fringe kids (usually).

As far as him leaving, you're dead on. But I'm desperate, I want a coach that wins enough that he is coveted. I'd love to win enough to have to cross that bridge at sometime. That's probably nearsighted.

Yeah, I don't think it should be a major consideration, but if you had two candidates who you thought were basically the same I'd want the one who considers the Gophers his dream job. I want a coach who's committed to the U and stays here for 10, 15 (winning) years.

You want to wait another 10 to 15 years before reading a thread (or whatever magical hologram we will be using then) like the one where the VCU fans were going to meet at a bar and fight? The VCU fans who could only agree on one thing, Pav is fat.

Hadn't considered that. I'd prefer at least one of those threads each year.

Have followed Tim Miles since he was an assistnt under Bob Olson at Northern st. He always wanted D-I and has done it the hard way. To small school, turned it around. Bigger school turned it, He now has the job that he has aspired for. HE'S GOING NOWHERE!!!

This is more of a discussion of Tim Miles credentials. I think everyone agrees he isn't leaving Nebraska.
