Tim Brewster's Press Conference Notes 10/5/10

Very few changes in the depth chart, on defense, James Manuel will start as will Kyle Theret. Our corners will be Henderson and Carter.

Thank you coach, The Collado era is over.

It is better for the team if Collado is a nickel or dime back.
It is better for Collado if Collado is a nickel or dime back.

Last year at Iowa, Collado played the best game of his life. He was playing Nickelback, coincidence? I think not.
The staff has done a bad job of putting a guy like Collado in a situation to succeed. He has got some talent, not enough to start at corner or safety. Let him play nickel where he can actually contribute something positive. About 5 weeks too late in my opinion.

Its seems that loyalty is blinding. Collado is a 5-9" player without a position, and yet over the past 3 years they have trotted him out there at corner, and now safety. It either is a case of lack of depth and talent, or the inability to see what a liability he is on defense. You can point to last year at Iowa, but there are at least 20 games where he was victimised by either high height, lack of vertical, or abitly to play the ball in the air. For 3 defensive coordinators and Coach Brewster to have continued to insert him is a indictment of the recruiting.

I've been very impressed with KH, and I'm not saying Collado necessarily shouldn't yield his starting position.

But does anyone else think this is a strange week for Collado to lose his job? The Badgers run almost constantly and their WRs have been underwhelming this year. This seems like the one matchup on the schedule custom built for Collado's skill set. I hope he still plays a lot this week.

I want Brewster to be fired after this year but I still think this team is better than what people are making them out to be. If Gray stays healthy I think this team could win 4 to 6 games. That's not enough wins in my opinion to keep Brewster but this team has too good of an offense not to win football games. Plus, the defense will keep getting better this year.
