Man, they were so good! Will always remember the 4th down run against Oregon in the bowl game. I won't forget the run, lol, but I forget which one it was. Maroney, right?

A hypothetical matchup of the 2003 gophers vs the 2019 team would be really fun to watch.not lost on me is seeing the various rankings listed next to "Minnesota" in the score graphics of these highlights. I would love to combine some of the strengths of the Mason teams with what came later under Kill and Fleck.
Yes but what really stood out to me in the reel was seeing a Gopher RB finish a long TD run and increase the distance between him and the defense. Hasn't been anyone like that in the M&G since Maroney, and before him Darrell Thompson. These two guys were beast where you couldn't bring them down easily. The defensive guys must have been sore all over after a game.
As good had some of our RB's have been Maroney, Barber and Thompson are in a class of their own.Yes but what really stood out to me in the reel was seeing a Gopher RB finish a long TD run and increase the distance between him and the defense. We've had lots of very productive backs since who get run down inside the 10 almost every time. I guess that's why those guys didn't get drafted and Thompson and Maroney were 1st rounders.
I love Barber and Maroney but I think the 2001 Hurricane backfield with Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore, and Najeh Davenport backfield might take the cake. How about that 2003 Gophers backfield with Barber, Maroney, Terry Jackson and Thomas Tapeh. All of them rushed for at least 1000 yards at least once as a Gopher except Tapeh who finished at 906 in 2002. Jackson had 1317 in 2002. Has there ever been a better foursome at RB on the same team?!
