This is great for recruiting/the U

Players like Jared Allen and Adrian Peterson who don't give off the sissy persona will enjoy the game and take advantage of the players who don't like the conditions. Some like it some don't but overall having our stadium on national tv will be a plus. It gets our name out there to recruits who previously may not have even so much as thought we existed.

It might have been worse if the surface were harder??? Get that, or do you need it presented with stick people?

How about you use your Star Wars action figures? You can play dress up and knock 'em down with your pink light saber.

Then you can get out your Hello Kitty's and re-enact the entire second half rectal-rub the Gophers put on your drugged up Hogeyes.

I would sure hope the kids we go after would have the IQ to know we do not play in December at TCF! Of course, this could be considered a fall game.

And it seems a little odd to me that in a state where ice hockey is played that the frozen turf would be considered a problem in the winter to anyone living/playing/working in the North? Then again, I didn't grow up sitting on a couch in the winter.

When I was playing football, I got knocked out hitting the ground in September on a clay field that hadn't had any water for about a month. I was in Arizona...

Is this the reincarnation of sorb?

Or Pantherhawk or maybe Gordy after his 9th Hot Toddy...

Anyway the "Negative Nancy's" are trying to say that this game will give the impression that it's cold in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and the Dakotas?:eek::eek:

Because of the Dome and next week's game being played at TCF people will NOW think that it's cold in the Twin Cities in the winter!

Hey trolls that's news to you?

Did you guys hear about Truman beating Dewey, FDR dying or the Moon Landing?

:horse::horse::horse:

What's all the star wars fascination here?

Unless you live here you don't know how cold it really is...People watching on TV will be fooled by the seven guys with V-I-K-I-N-G-S on there bare chests.

The few people I know that live here that are from Texas say they like the weather here better than there. "you can always add more clothing but there is not much you can do about 100 degree+ days and the high humidity"

Any Iowa troll like yourself gets lumped in with Pantherhawk. He pops up once in a while under different screen names.

But you remind me of someone different. You are more like Lason. I'm sure that with your law background you have read 12 Southern Second and are familiar with that filing. If I didn't know that Lason was dead, I would have sworn that was you.

ok, you guys have sold me! Let's get a pool going on the number of commits we receive by the end of the first half and by the end of the game!! I'll go with 3 by halftime and a total of 7. Next?

Stop saying "we". You are no part of this. You are nothing but a pig humping troll.

Either way he suffered a serious injury inside a nice warm climate controlled dome. Injuries happen in all sorts of playing conditions and are part of the game.

There are a lot of angry Vikings fans out there. Or at least some vocal ones. Some are angry because they can't have beer (thank the state legislature for unconstitutionally meddling in the U's alcohol policy). They are angry because they made travel plans and now will have to wait in line and sit outside, but it beats any alternative, if they game had to be taken to another state, they couldn't see the game at all.

Probably been brought up in the last few days, haven't been on.

Any chance the Gophers could get a couple kids to come visit campus on an unofficial Monday? I know there is school and some kids play hoops but I would sure try if I was them. Some kids commit before they take their official, make this weekend(Sunday + Monday) their official.

Listening to Mike and Mike this morning make fun of Jaworski for "having to go to Minnesota" this weekend told me all I need to know about how the media is going to treat this situation. I don't see a positive recruiting impact, instead discussions about how cold and small the stadium is.

A) It's gonna be like upper teens during the game, it ain't gonna be THAT cold. And Jaws shouldn't be complaining, he'll be up in the press box. ) Small?? It's a 50,000 seat stadium, it's not like the thing is a high school field.

Of course there is gonna be some ribbing about the "cold", but there will also be comments about how great it looks, the great facilities, and just general acknowledgment about a Minnesota football program that is RARELY mentioned on a national stage ever. If they're just gonna wine about how cold it is, but then big up places like Green Bay and Chicago for their stadiums, that's a joke, but it's just one piece of the discussion.

Jebus...people are acting like they've never done a Monday night game in the cold before. Are you kidding me? It only happens EVERY SEASON. So much stupid right now...

You mean here?

Keep using the force, Panties.

What some guy on the radio says is of little concern. That's nothing compared to the MNF coverage. It will be outdoor football in December, but it's only in Minnesota that people think there is anything odd about that! Playing football outdoors in Winter is the norm, domes are the aberration.

The stadium is going to look good, they are going to gush over the locker room and scoreboard. MNF wants to keep people watching through the entire game, they have little incentive to smack talk the U. What there will be is a lot of the Metrodome collapse, showing off of TCF and the locker room, showing all the work put into getting the stadium ready. I think it would be great if they could spare a minute to interview Coach Kill.

Back to the original thread....

The net effect of everything is it raises our profile...puts us on a bigger stage. There's no way they are going to sit and badmouth us the whole game. Quite the opposite likely. And if the fans are enthusiastic, having fun, loud, it's very much a positive for recruiting. But if the fans don't show up, leave early, are treated for frostbite...well that's not going to help us is it. Unfortunately, the Vikings performance will dictate what the fans do and chances are they might not be too impressive.

Answer this for me, please, I am willing to learn. What is unconstitutional about the alcohol ban at TCF? This should prove interesting. :pig:

Easy. The U has something called Constitutional Autonomy. It means the Regents, not the Legislature, set the rules and policies of the University. Where the U is willing to serve alcohol is an internal policy. The Legislature has no right to set that rule. They have the power of the purse and certainly set appropriations for the U.

Wow, that was hard...

Getting a little off topic, but the legislature didn't say the U couldn't sell alcohol at the stadium. They said if they're going to sell it to rich people, they have to sell it to everybody. And, since the stadium IS in Minnesota, this is will within their jurisdiction.
Regardless of whether or not you or I agree with the law (and I'm as pissed as anyone that we're losing this revenue stream) I don't see anything un-constitutional about it.
