The way this goes should be obvious

Here's a fun game to play with Andy Enfield.

If he hadn't beaten Georgetown, would his name be discussed?

Can we agree that one win should not green light him for the B10?

I'm not disagreeing with you, I just think Flip means the exact same thing. If we wanted Flip, he could have been announced yesterday. If we end up with Flip, the search went bad.

We can play another game, if Flip hadn't coached the Timberwolves, would anyone be interested? Do you think a Big 10 team would consider Mike Fratello?

So is this how you're all going to roll? We really didn't want him the most? Everybody wanted Shaka before Tubby was even fired...now he really is not our top choice! This was major blow! The AD\Coach relationship mean't nothing.

Does this make you feel better about Tubby being canned? People got caught up in the Shaka hype the last couple days but none of us thought it was realistic a week ago (when we wanted Tubby canned).

Who wouldn't be interested in a coach closing in on their 60's who is coming off of being canned from 3 NBA jobs in 6 years?

If Flip has something else going on we should look into Bill Fitch or Mike Fratello.

right...I think we probably should agree to disagree and let it go. I'm not trying to say Flip is the perfect hire and it would be great to get a young HC who has got some accomplishments going already, but it does not look like that is going to happen. Flip has a whole lot more to offer then you are willing to give him credit for so we should probably leave it at that.

Personally, I would prefer Stevens to Shaka, but I consider him even less likely to take the job.

Stevens is a pipe dream indeed. Would love to be wrong about that.

No...I wanted Shaka more than any of these other suggested coaches. So much for our 2.5 million buyout.

Andy Enfield was considered a top 5 assistant in the country while at Florida State. He was a big time recruiter there, and Teague/Ellis have known about him for years.

Don't discount him because everyone else has only learned about him over the past week. He has coached in the NBA and runs a wide open NBA offense that recruits would love.

He's even recruited pretty well to a school no one even knew existed. He would be a great hire here.

What if Teague has known for two months that Shaka didn't want the job and firing Tubby had nothing to do with Shaka?

But he really doesn't. The fact is that if he didn't go to the U, people on this thread would be laughing at the suggestion of Flip Saunders. It's fine if you want to agree to disagree, but this is what a message board is for, not agreeing to disagree.

I'm seriously wondering if he was ever really offered by Minnesota. No mention of Minnesota in the SI article. Nothing...NOTHING reliable about any offer. I'm wondering if Flip isn't the guy who has the offer and NT said he would let Minnesota hysteria juice the pot for him at VCU. I know, I know its a stretch, but I still find it interesting that we never heard anything reliable out of the U since Tubby getting fired...all the ones with sources at the U have been shut down. Guessing after the debacle with the firing, NT had a "come to Jesus" meeting this morning about keeping things in house.

Teague will hire the right guy for this progrm. Do not be surprised if he is not on any of these lists. This guy knows hoops better than most AD's...Be patient and have confidence in his hire...........

Whats the other option? Good luck Teague.

Laughing??? Other then his stint with Washington, he has a pretty successful career as a HC. Definitely nothing to sneeze at. If you don't like him as the HC, fine, to each his own. Truly not trying to pimp him on this board. I just believe he is a very good coach in his own right and believe he would be successful at the U. Other then not liking his age, which is fine, I really do not see why he should not be considered a viable candidate.

People relax. Tubby was fired 48 hours ago. Even if they had their #1 guy, it wouldn't be announced yet.

People are acting like they are going to get a Harold Ballard/ Roger Neilson situation (google: Harold Ballard Roger Neilson paper bag - you won't be disappointed).

That is because SI does not respect MN right now...

Successful HC in both MN and Detroit, with the only problem in Detroit being the expectation of the championship. Has anyone won in Washington?

All sorts of local ties and could seriously raise support for U., Being a point guard and having some success with point guards on the pro level, also successful coach at the CBA level

Just a few points.

He was the Gopher fans #1 guy. We deserve not to be happy.

Teague actually canned a future hall of fame coach off a NCAA Tourney win, kicked out 2.5 Mill payout , and did not have a royal flush coach in the bag....He is out of his league needs to matriculate back to a mid major job

It has been 2 days. No need to panic just yet.

I do like the idea of Flip though. Then you bring in an under the radar hot Villa 7 Assistant who looks to be a great recruiter (and is approved by Flip).

Flip then brings in a diverse staff and signs all 3 MN HS Juniors.

This thread is dead. It has quickly turned into a gripe fest, where is the fun from the Shaka thread?

Bob, we all know you are not a fan of Flip. Just ignore this thread and let other people have some fun.

So spin it the other way...let's say Teague definitely thought he had Shaka...fired Tubby...but lost Shaka's interest. Now Teague is screwed - He may be forced to hire a stiff as time goes on.

He knew this was the likely outcome, he knows Shaka.

Maturi is gone. Time to quit being paranoid. Teague knows CBB. We will get a winner. A winner named Flip.
