The rumors never end: Tubby a target for LSU job - UPDATED: LSU hires Johnny Jones

@GoodmanCBS: LSU has hired Johnny Jones, sources told CBSSports. News conference on Monday.
 

Is it possible that Tubby has nothing to do with all the rumors? Could it be more likely that the national media can't believe that a coach of Tubby's accomplishments couldn't possibly view MINNESOTA as more than a launching pad? Do we really believe that someone who just beat cancer, makes about $2 million a year is sitting around waiting for openings so he can speed dial his agent to "float" his name?
 


For those mad that Tubby doesn't dispel these rumors, this one lasted 8 hours.
 



I don't think Tubby does anything to perpetuate this. I think its like that old game where you tell one person a story and by the time it gets around the room its totally not the same story. That being said, UW-Eau Claire is looking for a head coach...heard Tubby read that in the paper...BEGIN.
 

Allow me a moment to share my bizarre dreams with you and then get torn apart:

So I'm not sure how old Flip Saunders is but many people have mentioned he'd love to coach at The U. Is there any chance he'd take an assistant position for the next season?

From there, Flip goes to a mid-major to get his feet wet in the world of NCAA recruiting. (This is the biggest stretch, I believe)

Tubby, who is currently 60 years old, coaches for 5 years at Minnesota, taking them to 3-4 NCAA tourneys in that time, then retires.

Then, Flip comes home to coach the Gophers for the next 15 years or so.
 

flip would be about 103 when he finishes his career in your imaginary time line.

Flip is about 57 I believe.
 





Is there a chance Tubby wants that extension signed before the new AD is hired, so as to have a feeling of working for Kahler and not for the new AD.
 

I seriously doubt if kaler is concerned about meritless rumors posted on gopherhole with respect to negotiating tubbys contract
 



I don't know this for a fact but I am guessing Tubby's people put out this LSU rumor to try to give Tubby leverage in a contract extension. It has happend before.
 

These rumors are manufactured out of thin air. kaler and the big boys dont care about made up rumors they are way to sophisticated and plugged in for that. Tubby is not worried about an extension he is set for life financially and has two years left. Tubby is not telling his people to float these job rumors so Kaler will give him a practice facility and a 3 year extension before LSU or whoever hires him. get real! If Tubby took another gig it would be a done deal by the time the rumors started , just like when he left K.TUCKY.
