My guess NIT and Iowa and Nebraska get in

I think they belong in the NIT. They had several chances to be in.

Illinois
Northwestern

Close loses vs Michigan and Michigan St.

We didn't blow out a lot of teams this year, so it's not like we had this firepower available to "beat any team on any given night".

I am more frustrated by SMU's weak resume and if they get in, that will be pathetic in my opinion.
Also the Atantic 10 and the American will receive too many bids collectively for how weak of a conference they seem to be.
That will resolve itself next year with Louisville leaving the American.

I say in. SOS and top 25 wins get us in. Iowa should be nervous! !!!

We actually have a slightly better resume than last years team, but I am thinking NIT. Nebraska is the difference this year

I think we get in, but after last night I feel like we shouldn't. That was an embarrassment.

I have just one question. Why? It's a championship tournament and, yes, there are numerous teams that will be playing there that don't belong in a championship tournament but many of them are courtesy bids to small conferences. I'm not sure why so many people feel a need for the Gophers to join the cannon fodder.

This team showed tonight that they belong in a consolation tournament where they should look more comfortable playing teams with RPI ranks between 45 and 95. They're not very good. They've had 33 games to demonstrate that. Making the NCAA tournament isn't suddenly going to make them significantly better.

I don't disagree. In a way, I see this as an endorsement of the job Pitino did this year, squeezing this many wins out of an undermanned and imbalanced roster.

That said, the decision will be based on blind resume versus blind resume. If it's our road/neutral record that keeps us out, I will be fine with that, but I want that explanation, and I want that factor to be applied consistently and fairly throughout the Field's selection process - not a process where facts and stats are cherry picked inconsistently.

I don't see where Iowa would be any more likely than the Gophers to win a Tournament game the way they've been playing.

I said in and I think they do belong in over teams like BYU(2nd leading scorer just tore ACL in their last game), SMU, Dayton, Missouri, S.Miss, and maybe some other teams who will probably end up in. It will be close but if the teams we need to win do then I think we will end up heading to Dayton.

I have been a college basketball fan for over 45 years, so I apologize for not knowing the answer to this question / ignorance.....but......does the selection committee make the decisions on which teams are in and which ones are out looking at blind resumes or do they know the names of the schools / conferences / etc. When making their selections?

They certainly know who's who. My description of blind resumes is based on the premise that they're supposed to act without bias.

Sid says Rick has a lot of influence on the committee, and will get them in. Haha.

Illinois and Minnesota both playing in the NIT semis.

Viewing Guide:

When watching the Selection Show keep an eye on So Miss and SMU. If they are picked, we are out.

I think the teams to look for are Dayton, BYU, Southern Miss and the gophs, I think the last two spots come out of this pool. I have a feeling we're going to play Dayton in Dayton and that's fine, I have know problem having to win a true road game to get into the 64 team field.

Are you from Nebraska?

If one is picked we are out or both? Just trying to gauge when i need to throw the remote in anger.

If providence and nc state win today I think the decisions become easier for the selection committee

What if Georgia wins today?

Providence is probably in even if they lose today. NC State would become another team right on the bubble with a win today but I don't think it is a sure thing they are in with a win today. Georgia more than likely needs to win the SEC tournament to get in.

I agree with you on those being the teams to look for and you could maybe throw SMU in with that group too.

Any speculation on my part would just be NIT picking.

With the Gophers luck, the NIT. But I'm really hoping we face one of those overrated A-10 teams or a team like Southern Miss in the first four of the NCAAs to prove that the big ten is on a whole 'nother level.

Feels like NIT to me. Providence wins while we got hammered. A close loss might have turned a few heads our way. I really hope they sneak in but the hopes look dim to me.

Getting blown out was the final nail imo. I really, really hate the NIT. This team looks like one that will go through the motions and exit the NIT fast.

I have a bad feeling the 1st 8/9 game announced is going to be SMU vs Iowa.
