The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

In my opinion his going to West Virginia is very likely…because of his father-in-law (whom I know but haven’t spoken to for about a year) who is a very wealthy mover and shaker in the state of West Virginia (past member of WV Board of Regents etc etc). If f-in-law were so inclined (and I wouldn’t know) he could contribute more NIL money just by himself than Minnesota has
Call him up and tell him to be a gopher fan instead. Support his son in law

So let me get this straight....do you honestly think there are places with coaching vacancies that are completely unaware of Medved and would only become aware of him if CSU keeps advancing in the tournament?

I mean I guess that might be true of some fans but any AD looking for a coach who might be interested in hiring Medved is already aware of him.
obviously, the only people who know about coaches is a search committee.

Is he a candidate? I haven't seen much connecting him to the job tbh.

I read here that MN signed him last week. I can’t really imagine people here are lying. I mean we ain’t Dan Barreiro.

Of course it’s also possible that he wouldn’t want to live in the shadow of his father-in-law…and I also have no real knowledge that is f-in-law wants him to be the West Virginia coach…I am just responding to an earlier post on this thread that he was a candidate at WV a year ago and might be this year.

If they want Medved they will have to pay because he will have options. Totally different situation then hiring a guy like Johnson who was an unknown.

I compare this to the Fleck hiring situation. Coyle identified Fleck as the guy he wanted and he went out and got him.
My guess is they already have him, just waiting for CSU to lose to announce.

It's been fun for CSU, but I don't want 4-5 more days of that. Go Terps!
Terps have a good chance of laying an egg. Talented group that can disappear for long periods of time.

Colorado State so impressive against Maryland so far. Queen is a load for them but they've made Maryland really work to get the ball. And their offense is just pretty. Everyone seems to know their job, spacing is really good despite screening quite a bit, never seem to be bunched up, always have a passing option. Can see how good a coach Niko is.

How is Maryland letting the smallest guy on the court dominate in the paint?

Seems like he maybe top candidate for West Virginia too?

I've heard he turned it down. Pretty sure he signed at Minny already just waiting until the tourney run to announce.

Well knocked out by a buzzer beater after they had a three of their own to get the lead. Bummer from him but I hope he’s our next coach. Has an offense, teams play pretty good defense. Hopefully the U supports him and some donors come forth with some help.
They didn't have an answer for Queen and Reese all game. Gutsy by Maryland to leave it to their 5 man but he showed why he's going to be in the NBA next year.

Hopefully Crocker and Evans are Gophers next year.

Might be best case scenario for us, getting to announce the coach. Get started on the transfer portal.

You'd also have to want to live in Morgantown, which is pretty remote.

It looked like Queen traveled on that buzzer beater.

Not bad. My son went to school there for 2 years. Pittsburgh is just up the road. Not total Hicksville like I thought it would be.

Morgantown is about the size of Owatonna without the students. The entire state has less than 2 million people.

Of course it did. But it’s almost never called in any circumstance. Not even CSU complained about it.
I’d like to see somebody break down that game and find how many times a player took three steps or more and didn’t get called for a travel. My guess is it’s five minimum and maybe more than 10. That’s just the way it is.

Agree, virtually never called.

To be fair also some contact on the follow through, which the refs are also almost always going to swallow the whistle.

I've accepted, that's the way it goes.

WAY more walking with the ball in this Arizona-Oregon game. They're letting everything go in this one.
