A good read.

That last part lands hard. The best college basketball story of March is, arguably, the story no one will hear about most of March. The St. Thomas Tommies, basically kicked out of Division III six years ago, bold enough to make a first-of-its-kind leap to Division I, driven by a local who quotes Aristotle and Kant, good enough to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament … well, they can’t play in the NCAA Tournament. Not until 2026, per the conditions of their transition.

Cinderella, without a slipper.

Which is not the same as the end of the story.

Any chance Tauer is coaching somewhere else next year? Not sure as he probably wants to see this process through next year and make the tourney. What about his top scorer, surely someone will try to poach him

I'd be surprised if Tauer leaves. Maybe someday, but not now.

As for potential poaching/losing key players like Miles Barnstable/Kendall Blue/Carter Bjerke, etc., to free agency, that's just something every coach has to navigate in these Wild Wild West days. St. Thomas isn't immune from that, though my hunch is the Tommies' key players will stick around to finish what they've been building toward. Just one guy's opinion.

Wait. Now we want Kendall Blue? I hate everything!

Why is that a condition for their transition....who agreed to that?

There a mandatory wait times when transitioning to force schools essentially to make a long term commitment to a new level.

You can’t buy one team make a run and drop down.
You can’t try it just for fun when you have a good team coming back:
Etc

It makes sense:
I personally feel the wait times should be 4 years. So in the first year of the transition you can recruit someone who could be eligible for the postseason as a RS senior

Being mad and petty that St. Thomas is good doesn’t make the Gophers any better.
True, but being mad should be heard by the BoR, AD, administration and rubes around Morrill Hall.

Being petty is well.... you're just running down a dream.

Watching this UND v UST game. UST is winning, but both teams are sloppy and the level of talent in the Summit is far below the Big10.

Ground-breaking thoughts. Thanks for tipping us off.

Did you watch the second half? Or how they completely shut down the guy that had 51 the night before, not to mention 40 vs. Alabama earlier in the season? Had 6 tonight, which is 6 more than he had vs. St. Thomas a week or so ago.

It was the second half I was referring to. The drop off in talent in the Summit League is very noticeable. The sets Tauer runs would be exposed in the Big10 in a conference that scouts conference teams on a much deeper level than the Summit. I suggest that you and Roland go create a St Thomas website so you can fawn over a team with lesser talent that would be a 16 seed if they made it into the Dance.

Yes, you are 100% correct, coaches at lower levels don't do any scouting. They just throw the ball out there and tell their guys they're on their own and to just have fun.

Also, do your homework instead of spouting nonsensical jibberish. If St. Thomas made the field, they wouldn't be anywhere near the 16 line based on their season/resume, etc. They'd be a 14.

Great repeating your moronic statements.. put yourself on ignore… yes Summit teams are less talented and are16 seeds.. your discovery of this is outstanding.. ask Purdue about a 16…

What a dip $hit…
