In his first, full season as a starter, Morgan lead Minnesota to nine-straight wins to start the 2019 campaign, and helped them finish 11-2 overall with a win over Auburn in the Outback Bowl to cap the season. For his efforts, Morgan was named second team All-Big Ten behind Fields. Since he redshirted his freshman season, Morgan could come back and play for Minnesota in 2021, but with his top pass-catchers from last year gone and expectations he gets drafted next April, it is likely we have seen the last of Morgan as a Gopher.

Hmmm. I'm not so sure here... I think Tanner would go for us another year. I'm going with loyalty to program and coach. It's just a hunch. One college season (basically), is a long way from cracking an NFL roster at QB.

I would agree with you if they were going to play this year.

As it is, NFL teams may be drafting based on last year's tape. If that's what they do then he should be a Top 5 QB prospect in the 2021 draft. I would not be surprised if he's done as a Gopher.

Tanner said before he plans to be here every year and not leave early. I think he tweeted that.

He's a day two draft prospect. I don't think you roll the dice on that opportunity by playing in college another year.

LMAO. If there’s no Spring season, he’s coming back.

I'd tend to agree. But, I did see him projected as a first round pick

No Bateman, no football and more first round buzz and he may change his thinking about returning.

Remember, PJ wants to ride with Zack anyway. :) And we have a four star coming next season, too.
My point: PJ will be happy for him if he's going to be a 1st or 2nd round pick.

And the new offensive coordinator could be a reason to stay or a reason to go, as well. Will his tape for NFL evaluators ever be better than last season?

Tanner seems like a level-headed guy that trusts things to work out. I don’t see him worrying about the NFL before it’s time. Besides, I think the NFL will want to see more to give him a high pick.

I’m no expert. Having stated the obvious, one enjoyable (yet boring) things during this time is to rewatch games and really focus on plays, players, etc. I’ve come to the conclusion that:
1. Tanner Morgan is the best Gopher QB in my lifetime and
2. He really has NFL ability- particularly with footwork, pocket presence, and throwing into a window.
No clue on what his future holds - I like him - his actions -his skill set - etc. If he goes pro, I understand. If not, I’ll be happy to see him suit up again.
Bottom line: He is very good and I wish him the best.

Morgan was fantastic last year, but let’s not forget Fleck initially had Annexstad as his #1 QB. Would hurt to lose Morgan but who knows, Annexstad could end up being better?

Tanner Morgan analysis by JT O'Sullivan:

Morgan will go down in Gopher history as one of the QB greats to don Maroon and Gold.

I wish him the best of luck which ever way - stay full on or opt for an early exit into the NFL.

We have a legitimate next man up at QB. This isn't the Gophers team that I have watched going decades.

This is a new destination school for QBs.

Morgan is looking like a 3rd-5th rounder despite not having prototypical size (and without compensatory running skills) and put up one of the best seasons as a qb here all time. the odds of Annexstad being better than him are so small and based on previous sample, though small, I havent seen it yet

1 yr and you are crowning him king? Geezo beezo. He hasn’t reached Weber or leidner yet?

I repeat, he will be one of the QB greats. He isn't done yet. He's won 11 games in a single season. He may never eclipse certain stats set by Weber or Leidner, but we will always remember him for the memorable 2019 season.

Oops, you took the bait. Swallowed it whole.

Probably doesn’t matter much if you’ve seen it. 🙃. The point is PJ saw it.

Could it be that he was wrong? Just like he was wrong about Robb Smith and made us suffer through some of the worst defense we’ve ever seen? He also helped bring in two 4-star OL. Maybe that had something to do with it.

He will be here until he graduates.

Anexstad is saying prayers every night that this is the case for Morgan. LOL.

I would think the risk would be worth it to play this spring. With an All Big Ten performance probably netting him a significant upgrade in guaranteed money. No playing time is ever certain in the NFL, careers are short.

Agreed. And 3rd-5th rounders don't usually leave school a year early, especially QB's.

Wouldn't that be Spring 2021?

Meaning he will play his entire eligibility. He is not an NFL QB yet. Will take more to prove that. It is baffling that somebody has one good year and they are a 1st rounder in the next years's NFL draft. If he comes out next full season and lights it up with new receivers then we can talk about it. Love the kid and he is our guy for sure but lets scale back the talk. Reminds me of PA on KFAN back when Andrew Luck was entering the draft and PA was touting him as an NFL hall of famer before he even played one game.
