Gopher Stadium pics/station 19

I was told that station 19 is a historical landmark and cannot be touched by anyone. especially when they wanted to mow it down many years ago.
Anyone else agrees with me?
Thanks!

I think it should stay, it's as much an institution in stadium village as Sturbs, I just wish it was a bar.

Station 19

It cannot be torn down because it is on the National Historic Registry, or something like that.
Anybody even know what in the hell the building is even used for now?
It used to be a bar, I think. Years ago.

It was a great bar when I was in college(1995-1999), it is now a architecture firm. It was when it was a bar as well but the architecture firm only had part of it and rented out the rest to the bar but then took over the whole building as it expanded. It was a really cool building architecturally for a bar on campus.

im assuming those large spaces near the small scoreboard are for the potential expansion.. Are they going to be gated off or can people walk around there?

Would be kind of cool to set up some concessions up there as well!

I never noticed it before, but the station 19 area looks like a football now. That's kind of cool.

Looks even better than the computer renderings - which didn't have the brick on the field level wall.

Thank you for posting those, those may be the most incredible photos I've seen!

get your daggom chili hot the new stadium rocks two weeks till scrimmage.:D

Station 19 is on one of those national historic registry's that have federal protection from being mowed down. Kind of strange that the building is not even being used for anything.
I would rather mow it down myself.
Go Gophers!!

Hey guys...

Did you know Station 19 is on the historic register and can't be torn down?? ;)

Sorry couldn't resist. Just shows either a lot of people don't read the thread before they post, or have horrible reading comprehension......

Well, I just happened to be eating in Stadium Village tonight and I couldn't help but take advantage of the snow fence coming down. I walked up to, and around the stadium. I am happy to report that IT STILL LOOKS GOOD.

Actually, I thought the Indian tribe monuments were better in person. On the pictures I thought their style (contemporary) looked a little out of place but in person they are quite nice. I was also impressed with the way the inner exterior behind the collonade looks. That curved ceiling is quite classy. There certainly are a few 'punch list' items though. A couple of the doorways on the north side were all dusty and one of them was literally broken out. It was just insulation spray, pipes, and beams behind the wide open door and lots of unused space (obvious space for a future room of some sort if/when needed).

In other important news, a passer by mentioned Station 19 can not be razed because it is on the National register of historic places. I thanked him for that information and thought I'd share it here.
