Curious, does this mean sold to students. That would be a great sign for next year.

Also how big is it? I'm thinking it was 10k when TCF opened but is smaller now. Or do they still call them student seats and then sell them to the public as they get closer to games?

They usually don't open the student seats until Thursday.

That upper section will be right in the wind.

Sorry, but is selling out the student section unusual?

These were all sold to students. There isn't a single seat in the student section available on stubhub. Excellent work.

This is fantastic and a testament to how far we've come along. I'm not saying I'm 100% believer yet. I know I've been critical. I do love seeing the enthusiasm build on campus. This is what college football is all about. In the modern era we have not had that great college game day atmosphere. We're working at it and despite what happens this weekend I'm confident that we'll continue to build to it. In the next few years I'm excited by the thought that I'm confident that we'll have ESPN Game Day here during the morning for a big time showdown between two teams with huge B1G implications that evening. We are not there yet. But, we are getting closer.

Hope to see solid gold(!) and maroon in the SS Saturday.

Sorry to burst the bubble here but there are probably 4000 (yes i made this number up but i bet its close) students at the U from Wisconsin so I'm assuming there will be lots of red in the student section. There always was when I sat in the student section. I would guess some of the left over tickets were bought up by students who are actually wisconsin fans.

Glad to see the student section selling out though. I can't understand why it doesn't. Student tickets are dirt cheap and football games are a good reason to drink all day on a Saturday which was usually my goal in college, all 8 years....

I'll be in the student section with 22 other Badgers. I know quite a few other parties that got student section tickets as well. We all grew up in the twin cities and are going with our friends at Minnesota as well.

Based on the 2011 and 2009 games vs Wisconsin, I'd say that's not very likely. The Dome years allowed students to buy a second ticket at the same price, with no checks on student IDs to get in. It's not the same anymore, and I distinctly remember there being very little red in the student section in the 2 games at TCF. I'm sure there will be some, no doubt, but to say it will be "lots" ignores the number of Gopher student fans who have shown up to games earlier this year (notably PSU and Iowa with the section mostly full in the former and full in the latter). We'll see.

Yeah, they loosely check ID's, so anyone with a U Card, regardless of the picture will be allowed in. Until they consistently sell it out and have ID scanners, they will continue to have this issue. Even now, a student could have bought as many tickets at $30 as they wanted online, but either way, I am happy that it sold out.

You need a student ID for every ticket...

Yep, we're going with our friends at Minnesota. They have ID's for us. Some of us are at Carlson too for our MBA's.

And yet cheering for Wisconsin while getting your MBA at Minnesota very sad and pathetic.

Only in Minnesota would people think "Well, these University of Minnesota students, they're from Wisconsin, so gosh darn it, of course they are going to sit in the student section wearing red and cheering for the Badgers, doncha know."

Sounds pretty awesome, I've done the same thing in Camp Randall in my younger years.

i hate wisconsin... the twin cities shouldnt allow people from wisconsin to get jobs here.. ;)

How so? Undergrad at Wisconsin. Been a Badger fan my whole life. I'm from the twin cities and I work downtown. It makes sense for me to get my MBA in the same city I want to work in - the connections made are as valuable as the education itself.

Did that last year with a bunch of the same people. We got tickets through my little brother's frat (he's a junior at Wisco) and went with a bunch of people, both Gophers and Badgers. I always love reading these boards and hearing about how awful the Badger fan base is and what drunk assholes we are; perception is so much different than that of the average fan. I've been to 4 games at the bank and the only differences I noticed between Minnesota and Wisconsin was the number of fans and the general loudness within the stadium. I've never been to a Badger-Gopher game at the Camp without some Gopher fans either. Lots of intermingling, but maybe my extended friend group and family is the exception?

I'll probably be a Jerry's Wagon tailgate for a bit (I think that's what it's called); I'm sure I'll be bumping into a lot of Gopherholers. I hope I can live up to the drunken slob standards that are expected of me haha. Shouldn't be a problem as I'll be at the SAE house from 8am-10am.

So, explain how you were a Badger fan while growing up in the Twin Cities?

I hate to agree with you, but no matter where you're from or what other kinds of schooling you have, your team should always be your undergrad school. It's very sad when someone cheers against their school - you just don't get it if you let things like where you're originally from or who you liked to cheer for when you were younger override your actual collegiate experience.

OK, I feel bad agreeing with a Badger fan, so can someone please respond to him with the standard "we have all the jobs here in Minnesota" post?

You think that Minnesota is the only place that thinks those things about Badger Fans?

So, explain how you were a Badger fan while growing up in the Twin Cities?

My dad was born in Wisconsin and went to UW-Madison. After 8 years in Chicago after graduating he opened his own ad agency here in the Twin Cities, which is why I born in Minneapolis and raised in the suburbs.

Well, no. That's actually not what I'm saying at all. I'm comparing the average fan to those on Gopherhole. Same goes for people on Rivals and 247sports, regardless of the fan base. I've never heard a Gopher fan, in real life, talk about a horrible experience at Madison. In fact, everyone I've talked to has had great experiences. Same goes for Badger fans at the bank in real life. However, reading this board, you'd think that the average Minnesota fan is dealing with legitimate fear of assault any time they enter Madison.

I've been to over 50 badger games in my life and I have never once witnessed or participated in a single physical altercation with an opposing team's fan. There will be asshole chants, of course, same as I experience every time I go to the Bank in red. I just find it hilarious the lengths that people will go to make their rival's seem like a pack of mouth-breathing, alcoholic Neanderthals. Reading this board does not compare to the Mainboard on Rival's though. Good God, that place is pure gold during rivalry weeks.

I was born in Minnesota and my dad is a Packer fan, but I am a Viking fan because I can think for myself. You are from Minnesota, getting your MBA from there, sitting in the student section wearing the most hated rivals colors just seem wrong. Although probably not as wrong as the undergrads from Wisconsin who go to Minnesota and will red on Saturday.
