This sent me looking for the all time worst Big Ten coaching records: I cannot find anything definitive on the subject but here is a little data:

Ricky Birdsong 10-62 .139
Kevin ONeill. 9-39. .187
Tom Crean. 19-53 his first 4 years. .26 (for comparison) ended up 71-91
Ben. 15-49. .234.
Pitino. 54-96. .360
Monson. 44-68. .393

If Ben were to close out this year 0-20 (a distinct possibility) his record would be 15-64 or .190- he would have half of Monson's winning percentage

From 1977 through 1989 they didn't have any Minnesota kids until Jason Johnsen and Grant Johnson joined the team in '89-90. They were teammates at Armstrong.

It really started with Kammron Taylor in '03-04 followed by Jon Leuer.
