Leidner said he felt better last week, even though he rushed only six times for 14 yards in the 41-13 victory at Purdue. Next comes Nebraska, on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium.

“I feel the best I’ve felt all season,” Leidner said Tuesday. “I’m excited to be able to be healthy and go out against Nebraska, and get a bye [next] week, and keep getting my legs back, and finish strong throughout the season.

“I felt strong last week against Purdue, and I’m looking forward to continuing staying fast.”

Well, I did say he should have gotten an assist on that down field block for Brooks. Nothing wrong with running but honestly, I'd feel a lot better if he was talking about being ready to pass more with a high percentage of completions.

A spade is and always will be a spade. Tebow worked harder and practiced harder than anyone but just didn't have "it". We know what Leidner is, and getting his legs back will really help us. He has been noticeably less mobile this season so hopefully he gets back to normal.

I guess we disagree about "it." Tebow won a college national championship and an NFL playoff game. Whatever that is, I'd take "it" for my QB.

Good luck finding anyone in this state who wouldn't take Tim Tebow...I was referring to the inability to develop passing skills despite working tirelessly to improve said passing skills. Maybe a bad comparison but what I was trying to say is, sometimes no matter how hard you work at something it just simply can't happen.

So a guy who won a Heisman and is almost universally considered one of the greatest players in college FB history didn't "have it"? Interesting take.

Given the choice, I'd keep Leidner and take Devin Hester, Percy Harvin, Brandon Spikes, Cornelius Ingram, Jim Tartt, Maurkice Pouncey, Phil Trautwein, Mike Pouncey and Brandon James instead.

So many on here want "it" a certain way: their version. There is another group that sees his leadership, toughness, experience, work-ethic, clutch plays, and winning percentage as their "it." It's obvious to me that Mitch has improved significantly this year and if that continues, he may even win over some detractors. It seems he took a beating in the early part of the season that wasn't made public. My guess is it's because it's football and he's a football player. Some of our injury woes might actually pay off during this difficult home stretch.

Never been released. but during the Northwestern game, late in the 2nd Quarter I think, Darrell Thompson mentioned that Gopher fans shouldn't expect Mitch to take off and run like he did before "now that he's wearing knee braces on both legs".
 



Yeah that makes sense, a number of folks observed that he seemed slower or just a bit "off" running this year.

Tebow in college: he won two national championships and a Heisman. Held the SEC record for career passing efficiency and total rushing TDs when he left for the NFL. Currently 3rd all time in the NCAA in passing efficiency, and tied for 14th all-time (with Marshall Faulk) for career rushing TDs. Not to mention, he has playoff victories to his name in the NFL, a career 17-9 TD/INT ratio with 12 rushing TDs, and the highest QBR ever recorded in a single game by a QB (97.3 out of 100), which is nothing to sneeze at. He wasn't Joe Montana by any means, but there have been worse NFL careers.

I'm not sure if you're trying to compare the two, here. I don't think so. But, Leidner isn't fit to hold Tebow's jock. At the same level as Leidner (NCAA), Tebow most certainly had "it." There are a lot of very reputable football guys who don't think he was give a fair shake, after an amazing season with the Broncos, he was never really given another chance. The reasons why are a different topic altogether.

"IT" = the natural ability to pass a football referring to Tim Tebow trying and practicing his hardest to make it in the NFL but just couldn't. Thank you to all of the know-it-alls for informing me of Tim Tebow's collegiate accomplishments.

For the love of god, someone on here posted that they would rather have Leidner work on his completion percentage and I immediately thought of Tebow working tirelessly to improve upon his (YES, IN THE NFL, I REALIZE THAT) but to no avail. My goodness people give it a rest. I am not trying to compare Mitch Leidner's collegiate career to Tim Tebow's............I was simply referencing the fact that everyone wishes Mitch could pass better but some things ("it"=passing ability) are simply there or they are not.

I then spun it positively in saying that our team could use Mitch's above-average running ability but instead of keeping it positive everyone has to tear into me as if I had no idea what Tim Tebow did in college.

Easy there, I don't see anyone "tearing into" you. Your perspective is valid, but evidently our definition of “it” differs. I have often thought of Tebow when assessing Mitch as a QB. TheBulldog’s statement that Mitch couldn’t hold Tebow’s jock earns “Captain Obvious” distinction, since few college QBs can compare with his accomplishments. Context is often missing in the discussion of Mitch’s throwing ability. Many of those that question his position as Gopher QB begged for improvement, but then keep moving the bar. It looks to me like we’re improved at virtually every position up and down the roster, and if our players steadily improve we’re in for good things.

Bilateral weakness refers to weakness that occurs on both sides of the body, generally in either both arms or both legs. Two years in a row, Leidner got beat up in nonconference. Probably got damaged against TCU this year. Hope he comes out smoking Saturday, his best running attack really diversifies our running game, and it pumps him up so he quits overthinking his passing.

Yeah Joe was wonky and injured on and off for a bit. The diagnosis was "bilateral leg weakness" the fact that nobody was familiar and nobody could figure out what that meant / when he would recover was a constant source of frustration for fans.

The TCU game was the start of the the decline for the team as a whole. Lots of bang up players and has been down hill since then. I agree with Kill not wanting to play that type of team right off the bat.
