Has everyone who threatened to give there season tickets up because of the Kill hire still going to follow through?

I'm sure a few that post on here might but I would be a lot more concerned about the causal fan. All the empty seats for the Iowa game was not a good sign.
I myself might have to drop my 2 extra tickets next year. My 2 boys aren't really old enough to go and selling them is impossible for most games. Not Kill's fault at all.

I never indicated I would be GIVING (or givin' if it pleases you) up my season tickets. Some did indicate that the would be giving up THEIR season tickets though. My guess is that most will come around.

Sorry on the spelling police thing, but two really blatant ones in a single short post is too much for me.

well if people drop their tickets, I hope to take advantage and upgrade my seats. We'll see what happens I guess

Wisky, NDSU, Nebraska and Iowa at home. Should have no problem selling extra seats.

I don't sell to the enemy.

Meh.

There's some good peeps around me who sold their tickets to Iowa fans. I'd rather give them the benefit of the doubt (ie. needed the money, etc.) than be a p3nis to them about selling their tickets. They've provided me with more than enough entertainment to look past the sale of a ticket to make a little extra money during a 3-9 season. Further, they're loud and great fans when in attendance. I'm sure if we're competitive throughout the season they'll show up.

Oldtimer

For those of you who remember Oldtimer (Gene Earl) I have received a holiday card from him. He and Doreen "Sweetie", appear to be doing fine in Upland, CA.

I sure hope the scalper that owns the two seats next to mine (they are always occupied by visiting fans) decides to drop them so I can snap them up.

I'm not worried about the people around me judging me because they are never the same people from week to week. I would be disappointed in myself and the tickets are right next to me. I cheer with passion and that could cause a little friction with the people I sold my tickets to. Although I must say the Iowa fans that sat behind me didn't complain once about me standing which was nice. They did call Troy S a fag which wasn't so cool.

Word. I'm with you. Thought you were one of those judging others who sell their tickets. My fault for reading too much into your post. You're right: selling to Herky, Bucky or Husker fans (Husky? what are we to call them??) fans could get a mite uncomfortable if you had to sit next to them the whole game. We have brokered tix in front of us and we're more or less in a battle every game. Probably because I'm loud and obnoxious; but I don't take responsibility for my own actions and choose to blame others.

I was ready to bail, then I stepped back from the ledge. I realized a few things:

1. Kill deserves a shot
2. MaCturi might have bumbled and stumbled his way into an actual football coach this time
3. If I can handle the Brewster debacle, I can give Killer at least 1 year
4. As dumb as MaCturi is, it's not his fault dickwads like Kelly (SGF) set us up for completely unrealistic hire expectations
(EDIT: MaCturi being dumb = incompetent to run a B10 caliber football program, 'tubby type hire' comments not helping matters)

That's my take anyway. My two tickets get renewed.

Disagree. Those a-holes in row 5 should be drawn and quartered.

Normally, I'd be against selling to the enemy, but if you have decent seats, why wouldn't you keep them if you're totally against Kill/Maturi/Goldy and make a profit?

There was an uber hot Iowa chick in row 5. I was pro caning for the row 5 d-rockets until they recruited hotty Iowan up there.

Loudmouth jackass in row 3 should have been permanently kicked after USC game, if you ask me.

I'm all but certain the Gophers lose if we don't commit treason. Everyone who got to enjoy the Gophers beating those hayseeds owes us a debt of gratitude.

I have recanted and will be keeping mine. My anger for Matruri was getting in the way. Kill deserves a fair chance and I think once we get a new President and AD, things will move in the right direction.

Actually, it kind of is Kill's fault- albiet not directly. This is why there will be a dip in ticket sales until Kill starts winning. If Leach or some other big name was hired, demand would've been stronger. Now, there is no need to buy tickets when you can get them as needed and occasionally below face value. Most die-hard fans and gopherholers will likely renew, but the Kill hire doesn't bring in new fans or retain casual fans as well as a big name ( at least immediately).

That said, winning solves these problems.

I'm undecided yet and have another 4 months, if I remember correctly, to decide. I'm certainly all for giving Kill a chance, not that any of us have a choice. My tickets are bought in conjunction with a buddy, so it will be a group decision between him and his spouse as well as me and mine. As many here have said, my initial anger is over. We went cheap again on a HC, but the guy gets his chance to show what he can do.

+1

Another point too. As much as I hate to do it, I will likely give up my two season tickets. Last year I had to give up one of my two sets of Gopher season tickets due to my increased expenses of raising two young kids under 3 (I had basketball and football tickets). I decided to give up the basketball tix since football games are easier to get to (bad decision, I know).

Now, I'm planning on getting basketball tickets and dropping football. The point being I'm a huge Gopher fan but I only have so much money to spend.

I'm thinking about adding a couple of tickets. If there is no NFL next year Gopher tickets will be very valuable.

I think people may be pleasantly surprised, people are warming up to Kill. The more people check him out, the more impressive the hire looks. On the Star Tribune comments section, the negative comments are getting downrated, and the positive comments are getting uprated, the opposite of what was happening initially. So I expect that people aren't going to be abandoning TCF in droves.

It's just too much fun tailgating and then watching an outdoor sporting event to give up the tickets unless my financial situation takes a huge turn for the worse. The on-field product has little or nothing to do with the decision...it's about being with friends and supporting the same cause. Everything else just seems petty compared to that.

That's a very big if. Even with a new stadium selling my extra tickets was nearly impossible after the Wisconsin game last year. On the other hand, selling my Vikings tickets at face value has been no problem at all even with the team out of the race.

I can't really hate on people that aren't renewing season tickets. Rather, I'd like to say THANK YOU to all the people who buy season tickets. That base is shouldering a lot for the fan base.

It's a monetary commitment to get season tickets and it's hard for a lot of people to get to the game every week when you can watch at home (not to mention the home experience for football is great). I think it's easier to have season tickets in football compared to the other sports -- there are some games with college/pro basketball or baseball -- but it's almost nicer to pick a couple of games (Iowa, Wisconsin, USC?) and get tickets to those rather than getting the entire season.

Going to the games is an absolute blast and I love watching the team, whether it's University of South Dakota or Wisconsin, but I realize that is largely atypical of the population as a whole. I'm going to be up in North Dakota next year and was thinking about season tickets, but driving seven hours one way almost every weekend probably isn't going to work out.

If I was living back in the 612 though, it would be hard not to pick up some season tickets to the Gophs. I think the tailgates are better than the Vikings and the gameday/stadium experience blows the Dome away. (That's just my opinion, I prefer the football and football fans on Saturday compared to those on Sunday.)

I had a fit on Sunday nite but realized that my anger with Maturi should not penalize Coach Kill. After watching and listening to him and people who know him I'm going to sit tight and renew my tickets. Another factor is the blast we have tailgating. We're fortunate to tailgate next to some of the most easy-going Gopher football fans who simply enjoy the whole package. We don't fuss and fume over the game just ended regardless how it ended up, a definite plus over the last home season. I still think Maturi's statements led to the meltdown which had to concern Coach Kill to some extent. It will be nice, based on his past history, to be able to put a competent team on the field and I believe that will happen.

Never gave it a thought. I enjoy Saturday afternoons watching college football. Added bonus that Nebraska, Iowa and Wisky are all rolling into town this year.
