What's the date today?
The last week has seemed like April 1st.
What's the date today?
What's the date today?
No one panicking, it's worth discuss some of the top assistants. I don't think he's on the list.So a guy from the Kentucky Rivals forum hears "Wojo to Minnesota" on a radio program I've never heard of and it causes panic? I would be really pissed if Wojo was our coach, I hate that guy (like right behind Laettner and ahead of Brian Cardinal in least favorite college players of all time).
What's with all the hate with Wojo? There's no more big names available why not take a risk he already took a risk with firing Tubby why not take another one? If it doesn't pan out he can try again in 4-5 years.
This. If he was that hot of a commodity, he'd have a head job somewhere already. Second, if by some chance he does succeed here, he'll be out the door at the first chance, especially when Coach K retires.
Odd first line to his Wiki page:
Steve "Wojo" Wojciechowski (born August 11, 1976) is an American basketball coach and former player of Polish origin.
He will accept the job with the condition that Sid gives him gift certificates to Kramarczek's not Murray's, per Andy Cats.
The line to replace K will be long. I hope our next coach is in it. Means we had some fun at the barn in between. What I don't want to see is us fire another coach after 6 or 8 years. That means visiting Badger and Hawkeye fans had a lot of fun at the barn in between hire and fire.
Sid's head might explode trying to pronounce his last name.
Perhaps Teague has his guy and is working on the details while everyone panics.
I think it passed the point where that is even remotely true. Just my opinion.
Absolutely hated him as player.
Didn't he score 6 ppg as a senior and get named all America?
Per Kentucky Wildcat forum.

+1. Teague is not smarter than the AD's at UCLA and USC, etc. We don't have a coach yet because we're either aiming way too high or getting rejected by everyone. I'd love to be wrong, but it get's less likely with each passing day.
Parski is salivating
Teague can't be that stupid. Hiring Wojo is a fireable offense. If I'm gonna go after an assistant, Richard Pitino would make more sense. At least he's spent 1 year as the head coach at FIU.
Sid's head might explode trying to pronounce his last name.
Hiring a head coach who has been a college head coach and has been successful isn't going to happen.
We are out of names. I absolutely don't want to hire a guy just because he already has been a head coach. The candidates who keep getting mentioned have proven they can't shine for very long or at all.
It has to be an assistant, at this point. The key to that is the right guy. Those of you against that... How about Kevin Ollie at UConn as an example...in his first year he won 20 and went 10 and 8 in conference. We have more talent here then UConn started the season with. The right guy can be more successful than Tubby from day one. The right guy is very likely not already a head coach who already has a track record of mediocrity.
The A list is exhausted.
One year is an awful small sample size by which to judge the Ollie promotion as a success.Hiring a head coach who has been a college head coach and has been successful isn't going to happen.

If we are going assistant coach, I am fine with that but not Wojo.
As far as a list of college basketball head coaches who have already been successful. . . we aren't even CLOSE to running out of names. It's not even remotely close.
