Congrats to the Oles, bringing home the first-ever national championship win for Minnesota!

They beat favored Amherst 2-1 in overtime. Amherst is a perennial power in D-III soccer, having been to the finals 3 of the past 4 years, and 4 of the last 8. This was St. Olaf's first trip to the finals, and only the second time a team from Minnesota has made it to the final game.

The game was two opposites in soccer, Amherst being physical and lobbing balls into the box to try to get headers, and St. Olaf being far more skilled on the ball, controlling possession and building up the attack. Olaf went down 1-0, but tied it up in regulation and then put away the winning goal in OT.

Nice! My twin daughters played club soccer for St Paul Blackhawks & two former teammates are Freshmen on that St Olaf team.
