8 Big10 teams selected and only Michigan State has a chance to make the sweet 16.

This is a pathetic showing for the conference.

At what point is the basketball world going to wake up and realize that the Big10 isn’t the powerhouse that everyone says. It shouldn’t be getting more than 5 teams in and it shouldn’t be getting these lofty KenPom rankings all year.

How in the hell was Wisconsin still a bubble team when it went 7-12 since Jan 1 (not including NIT)… and their KenPom is still 68.

Ohio State; 16-19 on the year, finished ranked #49 via KenPom. Since January 7-16 (loss streaks of 5 & 9 games). - how is this team still ranked 48th? I don’t care who you’re losing to, you lose 5 times in a row or even worse 9 times in a row, you’re not a top 100 team.

Then you can look at how the Big10 actually does in March Madness (let’s look at 2000-2022).

In my opinion, the Big10 is essentially the new Pac12 (but I’d take the top Pac12 against the top Big10 most years *in the NCAA tourney), and the conference shouldn’t get more than 5 teams into the dance on a yearly basis.

EDIT: forgot about Indiana, but it’s still really bad

I am experiencing a strong vibe of deja vu!

By seeding, they should have gotten two Sweet 16 teams. Which they will have if Indiana wins tonight. Purdue was embarrassing, but beyond that, it's been pretty much as expected. And I won't be shocked if Sparty makes the Final Four.

When in doubt, pick against the Big Ten. It's a lousy basketball conference.

The NBA talent in the conference is and has been lacking for a long time. It's a joke.

Teams get bids, not conferences.

But I agree that the Big Ten has stunk up the joint the last 3 seasons. No denying that.

We need less Big Ten wannabe's in the tourney and more Summit league powerhouses. Amiright?!?

But they really haven’t faired that much worse than their seed.
With the seeds they had I think you could’ve reasonably expected 1-2 sweet 16 teams this year. There was one. It wasn’t the one I thought it would be.

If you told me 2 weeks ago that the big ten had 11 of the top 80
5 of the top 30

But just 1 of the top 15

I would’ve been like, yup you’re right

The big ten is 5-8 in the tourney
The higher seed is 25-7 in round 1, 11-5 in round 2
36-12

Picking against the big ten you win61.5% of the time
Picking against the low seed you win 75% of the time.

Easy to take pot shots at the conference. But when you have a lot of teams between 20-50 you’re going to lose a lot of games in the first and second round.

And then there were none.

Even future member UCLA bowed out, failing to play to their seed. The Bruins will fit right in starting 2025.

What a game though. Watched via DVR after the Gopher hockey victory. At least the Big 10 can make the Final 8 in that sport.

At least UCLA gets to say they were devastated by recent injuries:
-PAC 12 freshmen of the year / also on the 2nd team all defense (did not play last night is the starting center)
-PAC 12 defensive player of the year (tore his Achilles about a month ago)

It’s amazing they made it this far with these recent injuries

I don't feel like the B1G was overseeded. I think the B1G was a not very good P6 conference that was appropriately seeded, and that we didn't overperform those seeds confirms we weren't that good.

The B1G has been extremely mediocre the last two seasons, and yet the disparity between the Gophers and the rest of the conference is shocking.
