@wccoradio: Source tells Chad Hartman that Flip Saunders has now emerged as the leading candidate for the #Gophers job.

Go Gophers!!

Breaking News: Flip has agreed to a new 10yr deal to remain with ESPN

Don't lose him to the timberwolves. Get it done. We probably wouldn't lose Alvin Ellis if we got Flip.

Yup, what this effort really needed was for someone to post that we're shutting it down for the weekend. That usually flushes out the blockage. A watched pot never boils. It's like going to the restroom when you're waiting for your meal to arrive; when you return, there it is getting cold.

WHAT IF

Flip was the guy all along. Flip and Teague(maybe others) didn't want Tubby to think Flip was already set to take over and looking over his shoulder. Used Shaka and Fred as a smoke screen.

Yeah I know it sounds far-fetched. Possible?

I wouldn't trust anything Chadly says. He's probably as reliable as he is about paying off his debts after getting schooled on the links.

Amelia not impressed.

WCCO is reporting that Flip Saunders has emerged as the leading candidate. I maintain that would greatly surprise me.

A lot of fans and donors want him but otherwise, it doesn't make any sense for this administration to go that route.

Anything is possssssiiiiiibbbbllllleeee!!!!!!!!!! Said Flip's former player.

Why not....all the good coaches have now signed extensions.

I love Amelia questioning Chad Hartman.

My guess. . .neither is plugged into anything, but Amelia is lost. Didn't she argue Buzz Williams was realistic?

Must not be many good coaches in the country.

Parski is trying to create the argument that Gopher fans only wanted to get rid of Tubby if we landed Shaka, Stevens or Hoiberg. He's obviously wrong, but this will be his schtick until he gets over the loss of Orlando.

Not far fetched. I think it would look pretty slimy publicly if it were obvious that everything had been worked out while Tubby were still coaching. Anything more than "Would you seriously entertain it?" would be questionable up until the opening were there. I can see that this time has simply been "working out the details" time.

Only thing I don't buy is smoke screens being used.

Although, it's humorous to think that Teague and Shaka both knew 100% that Shaka was staying but decided to use the situation for mutual benefit.

@DanBarreiroKFAN: Sources tell us No. 1 candidate as of today for Gophers job is not a Villa 7 guy. It is Flip Saunders.

Go Gophers!!

Here's Flip's story to potential recruits:

- I've been a coach forever, and I know basketball.
- I love the U of MN and I'm an alum.
- I know EVERYONE in the NBA.
- I know what it takes to get to the NBA and stay.

What kid would not want to hear that? I'd be more than happy with Flip as the coach.

Whether you like Flip as a candidate or not, if this is true I have a lot of respect for Teague and Ellis and their evident flexibility in departing from their pet program when they judge it makes sense to do so.

She should just post wild, unsubstantiated rumors like Doogie

Yep, as everyone knows, I'm not a Flip guy, but those are his selling points. Hopefully, I am underestimating him because he will be the Gophers next coach.

I fully realize that Flip may not work out. Thinking outside the box often doesn't (see Brewster, Tim.) But unlike Brew, at least we know Flip has a couple clues about how to be a head basketball coach. I also think he'll leave of his own accord if it's not working and not drag it out for 5-6 years.
