Sorry to "milk" the same video twice... INTERESTING Perich news.

a little background if you don't follow the Skor North world.

the guy talking about Perich is Thor Nystrom. Here is a little of his bio:

Thor Nystrom is a college football and NFL Draft analyst for Fantasy Life. Thor got his sports writing start with MLB.com covering the Minnesota Twins. Prior to his time at Fantasy Life, he was the lead CFB/NFL Draft analyst at NBC Sports’ Rotoworld and FantasyPros.

So - a guy who follows college football with a focus on the NFL draft. Fantasy Life is a web site focusing on Fantasy sports and sports betting. (of which there are more than you can shake a stick at)

good lord for eye roll.

Thor has had some really good takes and is a great guy, but he also likes to talk things into existence and is working on raising his profile.

Of course Koi wants to play for a team that's going to compete. No one who is a competitor wants to play on a team that sucks. He's going to get 3 shots at this in college and i'm sure playing meaningful games down the stretch is important to him. nothing about this is remotely novel/ingenious but it just creates talking points that are impossible to refute and make discussion.

Yes. I think it's pretty obvious he will be playing offense some. You can't not take advantage of having an athlete like that and has hands and speed to do it.

Yeah, he's not saying anything that's not obvious. He's got the gifts to play both ways. He wants to be on a playoff team. He also wants to stay in MN. These are all obvious things.

Why does he say this stuff like the player told him this?

Why does he say this stuff like the player told him this?
He does have sources in college football. Might not be direct from Koi but may be family, friends, other players, or even coaches.

I mean, not exactly some shocking insider-only info there. Koi wants to play for a contender (preferably here), and would consider leaving after next year if he's not confident in the team being put together. Could probably be said for every star player in CFB.

The problem I see with playing him both ways is do we know if he can play WR? If he plays rb like he did in high school from my understanding, then I can’t imagine giving him more than a few touches a game. Even a rb2 type role seems like it’d be asking a lot at an injury prone position.

i think i could see them running him on jets, tunnels, etc. Simple route tree. Super underrated part of a guy like Hunter's game is he can run the full route tree at an NFL level. That is really hard to learn if you haven't done it before (and added to that you need to do it with timing/in sync with your QB to hit things consistently other than go routes or screens/pop passes) and it's why I hate when anyone throws out that a guy will be like the next Hunter. There are a handful of guys every year who play one side of the ball and a short set of snaps on the opposite side. To do what Hunter did at the level he did is a way different thing.

It's part of why doing it out of the backfield/RB set is so much different. The route tree is actually really small and not really at all complicated.

Yes, he can play WR. In many ways, but most importantly as a competitor, he is on a different level than almost everyone on the field, you can see it while you watch him play live. He lined up in the slot but never carried the ball up the middle so don't worry about that. Maybe a jet sweep or two next year? Watch him play; focus on him only for a play or two, he is a special player.

Putting him in to run a few jet sweeps is useless. Everyone will know why he's in the game. That shit rarely works. Prefer if he were a decoy. Just my opinion.

Here's the clip if you like:
Interesting. 8-9 wins is absolutely doable with the team’s talent level and the schedule going into 2025, I’m just hoping we see something closer to Max-level performance out of Lindsey than Athan-level performance. Good (or even serviceable) quarterback play is a must for playoff contention.

If we can even get non-2019 Morgan type QB production, I think we win at least 9 games.

If the is evenly remotely true and specifically the part about wanting to play for a contender (remember, SKOR North is the home of "Reckless Speculation" - these guys are at times nothing more than gossip mavens) why would KP have picked us in the first place? It has always been the case that MN is much more likely to go 4-8 than to the CFP.

Thor is good but also is too staunch. His position is that there isn't a world where Kwesi brings back Sam, because it's antithetical to the plan (rookie QB to free up roster cap). But, sometimes plans change, and I think it's really likely that the Vikings DO bring back Sam.
I know we are talking about Koi, but I think this was part of the same conversation.

Also, Thor recently reported that AK tried to leverage MORE cash and PJ told him it wasn't happening.

But - the Gophers just hit the portal heavy for RB's and WR's - bringing in multiple players at each position.

If they were planning on using Perich as a part-time player on offense, it would be at RB or WR.

with the new portal additions, I just don't see much room for Perich on offense - unless he is that much better than the portal players the Gophers just (presumably) shelled out some $$ to bring in.

Now, I could see Perich maybe coming in for - let's say - 5 snaps a game on offense with a small package of plays they could run - just as a change-up to give the defense something to think about.
But I just don't see Perich having anything close to a Travis Hunter-like role on offense.

Right, why turn down OSU in the first place if winning a title is the main priority.

I know he is a special player and a great athlete, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he would be great at WR, he’s yet to catch a pass. To jump into a Travis Hunter type role would be pretty surprising.

Makes sense Perich would want to play on a team thats in the running for the CFB playoff. With Hunter winning the Heisman as a two way player i can see how a guy like Perich sees himself in that mold, it's not that far fetched to be honest. He's easily one of the best athletes on the team and he's only a freshman.

SKOR North is hilariously bad. Their "talent" isn't even second rate anymore it is basically "who can we find that can at least pretend to sound like they know what they are talking about". I always end up working at events with them and lets just say no one is rushing to sit and listen to them spout their crap takes.

I am sure Thor is a nice guy who knows a little bit about the draft...but legit nothing he said was something we couldn't have said off the cuff with no insider information.

"I have heard that n January we are expecting the weather to take a turn to the colder side with some snow. Its not a guarantee, but my sources at the NWS seem to think that while last year was pretty mild this year should be much more towards the norm."

That is essentially what was said. I guess I could do the weather for SKOR 🤣

(no disrespect GWG!!!)

I don’t think he’s Travis Hunter 2.0 but he certainly can play 10 to 15 plays per game at WR. It seems like the same culprits talking about him not being able to play much offense as the ones who talked about him not being ready to start earlier in the year. He was ready enough to start to where he’s all big 10 and on some all American teams, so let’s not underestimate the kid.

All I’m saying is we knew Hunter could play either position coming out of high school. It’s going to be much more of an experiment if Perich is going to play major snaps at wr. 10-15 plays split between wr, rb, wildcat makes more sense to me. I’m guessing IF they get him involved it will be 5 or less plays per game to start, and maybe they expand it if he is effective.

Yeah, throwing out Hunter's name is crazy because I don't think they would try to do anything similar to that with Koi.

But getting him in there on offense for a particular package or in certain situations makes a ton of sense. Kid is a special athlete and him just being on the field will make the defense react whether he touches the ball or not. Can't imagine them using him heavily on offense but seems very likely he will be out there on offense at times next season. Will be fun to see what they do with him.

I thought Perich was in early last night in a some type of wildcat package, but that was Lindsey.
Assuming Lindsey is the QB, someone is going to have to take a different jersey number if they intend to use Perich at all on offense.
