Signings 2022 Class

Dont know alot about her but sounds like she was their defensive specialist, started almost all their games the last 2 years, lost to IUPUI this year in the conf championship. 1 year of elibiligity left, seems like a depth pickup. 11 players on the roster for this year now, would think theyd wanna add at least 1 more.

Not impressed with her stats. Doesn’t seem likely she will be a big contributor on the court. Seems remarkably inefficient as a scorer with a 35% efficiency. Solid free throw shooter @ 80%. Not an outside scorer at ~23% 3pt shooter. She did sit out last season for some reason. Hope she can thrive in the environment.

Curious, what makes you think she is a defensive specialist? In what way was she used on defense?

Actually got a player not from Minnesota (and from Iowa too). Nice.

Just what I read on the internet, cant say I know anything about her, she was called their unsung hero this year because of her defense.

May be an ok pick up. If she can bring some experience and leadership. I don’t expect to see her on the court too much. A team isn’t filled with 13 stars. Gives depth.

I went to a meet and greet Q&A with the athletic director a few weeks ago. He spoke on his exit interviews with the women’s basketball players and he mentioned all told him they have good relationships with the coaches and enjoyed their experience at the university. Minus Scalia the common theme to leave was wanting more playing time. This new signing looks like it could possibly be someone where playing time probably isn’t their primary factor and someone that is excited for a shot to contribute to a Power 5 program or Big Ten program with their last year of eligibility. Reminds me a little of our recently graduated LBK signing.

more playing time? like Scalia wanted more playing time? or the other players? either way a few could have had plenty of time imho.. but oh well

I think Coyle relaying this information is fishy. Someone, either the player or Coyle, is being misleading or lying at least as far as Powell goes but maybe he isn't including her in that statement about the "exit interviews". I would be real skeptical about Sissoko having an issue with playing time. Sissoko averaged about 24 minutes a game and fouled out of 3 games along with another 7 games with 4 fouls, all of which limited her minutes some. 24 minutes should have been adequate for her given her inconsistent play but maybe she is unrealistic and thinks she should play 34+ minutes a game no matter what. If Sissoko was crabby about playing time she certainly isn't a good teammate. She has TONS of potential but she wasn't consistent enough to get more playing time.

I assume you mean Powell.
