Should the TCU game be a gold out?

gold towels given out would help the cause as much as giving out tshirts at the game. the gals will not put on a tshirt just given to them. sizes are a problem (outside of students)

but a towel lives on and i would imagine that with all the corp. sponsors lining up to jump on the bandwagon we could get one of them to pony up a little extra and flip for the towels

You just might me on to something. Kind of like the homer hankie?

For those of you old enough to remember them during the Twins WS years. Put out by the Strib. People waving those white hankies was quite the scene. Imagine those in gold with a maroon M.....Gold Wipes.

The traditional 'gold out'/shirt thing doesn't have a good history at the U. Maybe time to try something new?

They did the "Hankies" in the 2000's as well for the few times the Twins have actually been relevant. But, I agree, Gold Towels would be pretty solid.

Big early season game with major exposure - we should tell them who we are with, "dress your seat color!"

I like the idea and it would be awesome to see if it could be accomplished, but I think that's a bit too complicated for our fan base at this point. Think baby steps. Plus, with so many options for people to change seats this off-season I'd guess a lot of people may not even know the color of their seat until they arrive that day.

This is our toughest game of the year and with high level visibility our promotion folks and coaching staff need to pull out all the stops. Some very good ideas in this thread.

Man, the bold is so true. I didn't even think of it until you mentioned that. Hopefully the marketing department can come up with something special for this game.

Like a win hopefully.

Very true. In the past I have been critical of our Marketing Department (even volunteered for a fan focus group). They seem to have turned things around and I'm very hopeful that they'll come through in a big way. It seems with the success lately of the team, the Marketing Group has also stepped it up. This is going to be big!

For sizing concerns, student season ticket holders who get the free shirts are emailed to get shirt size or choose shirt size when they buy the tickets. It wouldn't be hard to send an email to everybody who has bought a ticket to the game to see what shirt size they are. It would be more work for the people putting the shirts on the seats, but it could still be done.

A lot to consider. The game is a week before classes start. The State Fair is in progress. Needs to be a State wide effort/promo!

I recently participated in a focus group and I asked them about this. They have tried to reach out to sponsors, but it hasn't worked. They said they can get the price down to about 4$ a shirt, but they can't find a sponsor to pay the 200k total for all the shirts.
