Maybe? Sounds like Groves/Niko already had it worked out. Groves had already moved home, enrolled at the U & made it known to Niko he wanted to be a Gopher. His agent brought Wisconsin into it for some leverage, but I think it was basically a "I want to come home & play at the U. Pay me what you can pay me." situation. I don't think Groves drove a hard bargain. How much that is? I don't know. 300k doesn't sound as far off as 125k at Texas Tech last year imo.

I'm just spitballin'...you seem to have an inside source...however he got here, happy he wants to be a Gopher! I believe he will be a contributor.

Lot's of meaningless speculation here. Does it really matter what TT may have paid him to not play much as a Freshman? The guy is signed and enrolled to play here this coming season. Doesn't really mater how much he is being paid now.

Or, how a team spends what money it has is the most important factor. Take your pick...we do know by consensus we have about the 13th - 15th best roster going into the Big Ten season. How much we play above our starting line is the question.
If we got Groves for $300k yay!!!
