Shama: Lou Nanne may head the committee to assist Teague in $190MM fundraising

Dan Barreriro tweeted today and confirmed this thread:

Dan Barreiro @DanBarreiroKFAN
Closed-circuit to @GopherHole: I don't think you will be let down regarding those Lou Nanne rumors.

That would be most awesome!! Not sure there would be anyone in MN that could do it better than Lou!!!

Sid is the only guy in MN with more access to moneybags alums than Lou. But of course Sid is 60 years older than Lou and 2/3 of Gophers fans dislike Sid. So Lou is the perfect choice.

I wonder how things are going.

Anyone heard an update on the plan from 3+ months ago to do a fundraising feasibility study? I completed one in 5 seconds or so. ("Not feasible. Crazy-talk.")

I was thinking the same thing, where are they going to come up with that kind of money, but they did it for TCF so I guess the money's out there, I will be completely amazed when inevitably they come of with it.

They didn't come up with it for TCF. "(The U) didn't build that." I did via the State of Minnesota.

The $190MM was a ridiculous figure to throw out there. Fortunately for Teague and the U people are gullible.

There are plenty of Gopher fans who didn't grow up in Minnesota, why on earth would I know who he is? The North Stars haven't been around since 1993 (when I was 8)...

No offense, but you should know who Lou Nanne is.

It's still possible you'll have the honor of contributing to the practice facilities, too. Lotta time left to lobby. Maybe they can put all the taxpayers' names on the cafeteria trays at the new dining facility? :)

Nanne may be great, but having successful football and basketball teams would do more to get this done than any backslapping fundraiser. If this fall is any indication we're certainly headed in the right direction.

The best thing that could happen to the Gophers is making this a magical football season. If they can win on Saturday and beat Wisconsin, then they are in great shape to go to a really good bowl. That would be a great way to get people to cut some checks. Winning big this season could really open some wallets.
