R U defending tubby thus far?

bb

Super.

I guess your expectations for Tubby and his squad a lower than mine.

That could be. My "hopes" are the team competes for Big Ten Titles. It is hard to "expect" that with any regularity when in our history we have never regularly done so.

Clem had some NCAA success pre-scandal but never really competed for a Big Ten Title.

Jim Dutcher won the title once and had a couple of seconds but otherwise was not competing for the conference title.

So, yes, my expectations are probably lower than yours.

I expect Tubby to run a clean, respectable program.
I expect him to compete in the Big Ten and with some frequency, for the title.
I expect players to graduate and be honorable citizens.
I expect an occasional run in the tourney but at least regular invitations.
I expect an occasional "lost" season like this one.

To date the only time Tubby has failed to meet my expectations was when he called out Blake. No one is perfect.

I can still say I am proud to have Tubby represent the U and the state as Gopher head coach.

I am looking forward to the next game and next November.

:)

Everybody has to have their own expectations. Great.

When Monson left, most here proclaimed the need for higher expecations.

4 years in, expectations have been adjusted(read lowered) to meet the actual results of Tubby.

Obviously we disagree.

When Dan left the program was floundering and recruiting was dead. His last recruiting class consisted of two Minnesota kids who grew up dreaming of being Gophers and playing in Williams Arena. I could have recruited Al and Blake to the U.

Tubby has raised the recruiting standards and the results. While they may not be what some expected or had hoped for, it is a step up from what Dan had done.

If Tubby goes 6-12 next year, talk to me then.

:)

Quite telling that you can only give credit to Tubby, and not recognize the unmet and lowered expectations - 4 years later.

If Tubby doesnt win at least 2 games in the NCAA next year, talk to me.

That will be year 5.
