"Cretin-Derham Hall offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson canceled a recruiting visit to Florida this weekend."

I can only assume that means he has decided on Minnesota .

Seriously, I'm not sure why he canceled, but it wouldn't surprise me if he'd rather play in a pro style offense (Florida runs the spread). I'm guessing USC has the edge but I'm still holding on to a glimmer of hope.

The weather was so bad at the airport he figured he might as well stay home. Let's hope the snow lasts until signing day. :)

Huh? Are you talking about here or in Gainesville? It hasn't snowed in days here.

It was not the weather. I speculate Seantrel will either go to USC or Minnesota, any place else would be a complete shock. Seantrel we need you at home and you would be a hometown hero here not just another big boy lineman someplace else.

I could not agree more!! He could be The MAN on campus!! He might be like Carl Eller and dominate in college and take his game to the next level with the Vikes!!!

When I post about Seantrel I like to post a message to him in case he reads this board. He would be huge here, literally. Local CDH kid staying true to his state, #1 kid staying home to build his program. Loud message to the local Brewster hating media members. NFL prospect lineman along with Gjere (hopefully), and maybe a guy like Ragoo also (if he matures into his body)

everything you have written here is true. i truly hope this is really HIS decision (and that he truly understands the positive impact on him, the U of M and his football career if he joins up with the gophers) and he is not being unduly influenced to take a certain "flashy" offer by those around him.

Open Message To SH

Seantrel

You have an opporunity to guarantee your future. You can help fix what I believe is the most serious problem the Gophers have: The offensive line. If we can upgrade the OL, and we already have some solid recruits, I think we can take the program to another level. You could be a key part of that. If you were, it would almost certainly open doors for you. I think you could become a local legend, and have unlimited career opportunities before or after a likely pro career.

That's less likely to happpen at USC. There you would not be the home town boy who turned the program around.

I understand the attraction of California. I left Minnesota to get a law degree at UCLA. But after three years in California, I left. It wasn't for me. I didn't like the spawl, and I didn't like the smog. Wnters are cold in Minnesota, but no place is pefect, and I don't think there is any place better to live and raise a family than the Twin Cities. And I've lived in the West, South and East.

Seantrel Update...

I just spoke with him and his parents tonight at the Breakdown basketball tournament. CDH had a great win against Champlin, it went into 2 OT's.

Anyways, Seantrel is very dedicated to basketball, and didn't want to miss this tournament this weekend (I actually heard his Dad tell someone I was talking to, he even missed the Army All-American combine last year for bball). Anyways, they scheduled their Florida visit for next weekend. Sorry Gopher fans that thought Florida was out of the mix!

So, he's going to Winona St?

I think there's very, very little chance of SH ending up at Florida. Why would he want to do that? The only logical reason is to play for a winner, which is not going to be a problem for SH, he's got lots of winning options. He's already said that being close to home and his family are important to him so Florida is illogical in that sense. Also, Gainesville is a dump. They call it the swamp for a reason. Lastly, the team is (As far as I can tell) filled with the most thuggish, knuckle draggers you'd hope never to meet. Not a place I'd send my kid.

I think SH could probably narrow it down right now to Minnesota, USC, Iowa & Ohio St. I suspect USC will fade from that group as part of their mystique is gone after a pedestrian 7-5 season and the distance thing. That leaves the final 3 of Minnesota, Iowa & Ohio St. Both, OSU & Iowa are known for their offensive lines and the parents could drive to either, plus they'd be coming to TCF twice and they could pick up all the games on BTN. In my mind I like to think the silence from SH regarding Minnesota is a good thing. The thought of him going to Iowa makes me want to slit my wrists.

Just some thoughts....discuss.

I'm not sure slitting your wrists is a good idea. There's a good chance you won't be successful, and you'll do some tendon damage.

On the lesser points, seems logical.

USC is the definite front runner. He visited tOSU in the game against USC, he visited Notre Dame in their game against USC, and he has visited USC. They are the obvious front runner. I really doubt any mystique would wear off because of one pedestrian season in the last 10 years.

I really hope the kid does what is best for him. I am not saying that neccesarily means going to MN. USC has first class coaches, he would be playing in higher profile football games, he wouldn't have the burden of the entire program on his shoulders, and he would get to play with(and against in practice) tremendous amount of talent. Those around Seantrel that are high on USC are because they want what is best for him, and not us Gopher homers.

There are plusses to staying home and playing here, but to act like USC is merely for some sort of glitz and glamour is failing to appreciate how important of a decision this is for Seantrel.

we could have an incredible line in 2-3 years!

My friends son

goes to CDH and has played often with Seantrell and guarded him in practice and says he is the nicest kid.

his florida visit is next weekend, his minnesota visit was supposed to be this weekend im pretty sure

I don't believe an offensive lineman has the burden of carrying the entire program on his shoulders. If SH were a quarterback, or runningback, I would agree that would be the case. But, as an offensive lineman, I don't think so. I'm not saying that an offensive lineman cannot have as big, or bigger impact on the team, but the spotlight isn't there.

The spotlight would be on Henderson here because he is not only the top player in Minnesota but the top player in America. His commitment would be huge for the program.

Remember,, we have one of the best O-L coaches in the country. I know it didn't show this yr, but he is and it will show.
